  • Patent number: 7134246
Abstract: A fenestration product includes a door assembly having a door shiftable into and out of a closed position, at least one generally flat door jamb presenting an inner face that faces inwardly toward the door when the door is in the closed position and a generally oppositely facing outer face, and door hardware positioned along the inner face of the door jamb and configured to associate the door with the door jamb. The product further includes a substantially flat reinforcement plate secured flatly against the outer face of the door jamb. Moreover, the door hardware has at least a portion thereof that is securely fastened to the reinforcement plate so that movement of the hardware relative to the doorjamb and reinforcement plate is prevented. A method of reinforcing a fenestration product in this manner is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6679004
Abstract: The door reinforcement assembly includes a reinforcement plate secured to the interior surface of one of the door jambs in an overlying relationship with a projection of the door hardware. A portion of the reinforcement plate is visible when it has been secured to the door jamb, and a decorative cover is retained on the plate to conceal the visible portion thereof. The decorative cover and reinforcement plate are preferably configured so that the cover is retained without the use of fasteners (e.g., the cover snaps onto the reinforcement plate). The door hardware associated with the reinforcement plate may comprise a strike plate or an inventive high security door hinge. The high security door hinge includes a door plate fastened to the door, a jamb plate fastened to the corresponding jamb and pivotally interconnected with the door plate, and a reinforcement projection projecting transversely from each of the plates to engage and extend along the interior surface of the door or jamb.

  • Patent number: 6305127
Abstract: A strike plate includes a substantially flat body having a bolt-receiving hole defined therein. The body is placed between the exterior and interior sides of a jamb of the door assembly, with the bolt-receiving hole being generally aligned with the bolt-receiving opening defined in the jamb. The strike plate further includes a substantially flat projection extending generally transversely from the body at a point spaced from the bolt-receiving hole. The projection is secured against the side of the jamb that the door moves past as it swings into and out of the closed position (i.e., the exterior or interior side of the jamb). In one embodiment, the projection is secured to the side of the jamb by a reinforcement plate attached to the side of the jamb to overlie the projection. In another embodiment, the projection includes a pair of tabs that project outwardly beyond the body, wherein each tab has an opening for receiving a fastener therein.

  • Patent number: 5409393
Abstract: A locking mechanism that includes a plurality of female pins that can slide into the locking apertures of corresponding male pins, to secure a male connector to a female connector. The female pins are located within corresponding alignment apertures in the female connector and are oriented to be essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the apertures. The alignment apertures receive the male pins which have cam surfaces that engage the female pins and move the female pins from the first position to the second position. The male pins are inserted into the alignment apertures until the female pins are aligned with the locking apertures, wherein the female pins slide into the locking apertures and interlock the connectors. The female pins are connected to a handle by a chassis that can move between a first position and a second position. To disengage the connectors, the handle can be depressed to push the female pins out of the locking apertures.
