Patents Assigned to Wayne/Scott Fetzer Company
  • Patent number: 5205725
Abstract: A submersible sump pump includes a pump housing having a volute chamber in which a centrifugal impeller rotates about a vertical axis. The impeller draws water in axially from below from a fluid passage having a closed bottom, the fluid passage having a plurality of inlets located about the perimeter of the pump housing at an elevation above the level of the outlet from the fluid passage to the volute chamber. Thus, a bottom suction impeller arrangement is provided that prevents debris from the floor of the sump being drawn into the pump.

  • Patent number: 5181841
Abstract: A sewage pump includes an injection molded thermoplastic upper housing that surrounds an electric motor and its cast iron motor support, except for the bottom wall of the motor support which forms one wall of a vortex volute, the remainder of the volute being constructed of injection molded thermoplastic. The volute includes an inlet aperture through the bottom, and integrally molded legs extending downwardly whose length is related to the diameter of the inlet aperture such that the clearance underneath the volute is less than the diameter of the solids that will pass through the inlet aperture. This prevents oversized solids from reaching the inlet aperture. The outlet of the volute terminates in an annular thermoplastic threaded connection that is threaded on both the interior and exterior for fitting to different sized effluent pipes.

  • Patent number: 5174743
Abstract: A power fuel oil burner is provided that includes an electrical motor having a double ended shaft. A squirrel-cage blower overlies the motor. A scroll housing includes a scroll wall that overlies and radially surrounds the blades of the blower. A motor mount integral with the scroll housing supports the motor. The scroll housing is an integral die-cast casting. A fuel pump is driven by a second end of the shaft externally of the scroll housing. A mounting member includes an open cylindrical portion and a radial flange portion. The cylindrical portion is received within the air outlet of the scroll housing, and a cylindrical burner tube is received within the cylindrical portion of the mounting member for communication with the air blower. An integral sheet metal stamped flamelock is disposed within the burner tube downstream of the burner means, is cup-shaped and has an annular frusto-conical portion and an annular ring portion extending radially inward from the frusto-conical portion.

  • Patent number: 5055000
Abstract: An enclosed pump motor includes an aluminum housing made by an impact extrusion process. The housing is cylindrical having an integrally-formed closed end with integral fastener bosses for attaching a pump thereto and an integrally-formed thickened cylindrical portion defining a shaft bore for receiving the motor shaft therethrough. At the other end, the cylindrical housing is open for receiving the motor therein. A motor cover is attached to the motor receiving end of the housing by crimping or bending a part of the housing into indents formed in the housing. The motor cover includes a threaded bore adapted to receive a threaded grommet wherein three connector pins are imbedded. The connector pins are connected to electrical power carrying conductors and/or switch conductors leading to a fluid level sensor switch. The conductor-to-pin connections are imbedded within the grommet and are hermetically sealed therein.

  • Patent number: 4820131
Abstract: A shallow well centrifugal pump having a casing forming a fluid flow cavity and having a fluid intake end with a threadless bore and a suction inlet communicating with the cavity through the bore, and a diffuser disposed in the casing cavity and spaced from the casing intake end. The diffuser has a threadless opening defined therein leading to an impeller. A venturi nozzle assembly is supported in the casing cavity between the casing intake end and the diffuser. The assembly has threadless opposite end portions disposed in slidably removable slip fitted relation within the casing intake end and diffuser in the respective threadless bore and opening therein. Endless sealing elements preferably in the form of O-rings are fitted about the respective threadless opposite end portions of the venturi nozzle assembly for providing hermetic seals between the assembly opposite end portions and the casing intake end and the diffuser.
