Abstract: Storage of weather data in four dimensions in a mass storage data cube for ready access. Weather data to be stored is ingested and processed with respect to location and time to generate one or more tiles each characterized by a geographic location index and a time index. The tiles are stored in a mass storage data cube in accordance with the geographic location index and the time index of each tile. The tiles containing the stored weather data can be readily accessed and retrieved from the mass storage data cube.

Abstract: A method, system, and device provide alert information using weather prediction data. The method includes: converting weather prediction data to a tile based tile set, the tiles each representative of a unique geographic projection of a rendered geographical area of defined size; determining for each time period of the forecast whether any of the one or more weather variables associated with each prediction geographical tile violates a weather variable threshold for the location associated with the prediction geographical tile, the determining performed by comparing for each time period of the forecast each weather variable of the one or more weather variables associated with the prediction geographical tile to the weather variable threshold for the location associated with the prediction geographical tile; and generating and communicating one or more alerts corresponding to one or more violations of the weather variable thresholds for the locations associated with the prediction geographical tiles.

Abstract: Alert information is provided to a user of a device. In response to receiving an alert notification, a current location of the device is determined and converted to a device geographical tile that encompasses the determined current location; alert data received about the alert are processed and stored in an alert database if it is determined that a device tile code of the device geographical tile matches any alert geographical tiles that define the alert; a database query of the alert database is performed to identify alerts having one or more alert geographical tile codes that match the device tile code that have not been presented to a user of the device; and the user of the device is notified via the user interface of the device of the identified alerts and the user is prompted to view the identified one or more alerts via the user interface of the device.
