    Abstract: A process for the production of a cover unit with a seal for vehicle roofs in which a cover part, such as a glass cover part, a cover support and a profile part, having a replacement seal receptacle are inserted in a mold having an upper part and a lower part. The profile part is spaced from the cover part and the support leaving edge gaps which are filled by introducing an elastomer therein to connect this assembly to a cover unit. The profile part is attached and aligned, in a preferred embodiment, by attaching projections on the upper part and/or lower part of the mold depending on its position in the production of the cover unit. A peripheral seal can be molded on the profile part.This peripheral seal can be removed from the profile part, so that the seal receptacle of the profile part can be used to insert a replacement seal.

    Abstract: A vehicle roof for closing an aperture in a fixed roof surface comprising a series of strip-like plates. In closing the roof, the plates lie edge to edge to form a flat sheet. The plates are mounted on guide tracks in a roof frame fixed beneath the roof surface around the aperture. Each plate is carried on the guide tracks at two locations, and the plates can be moved rearwards and tilted. In the roof open position, the plates are pivoted upward and lie substantially parallel to one another. The pivoting takes place towards the rear of the aperture as each plate is completing its rearward movement. The plates remain engaged with both guide track locations at all times and this ensures the stability of the assembly. In each case, a drip molding is hinged at least on a part of the plates. The drip moldings are guided to slide along lengthwise guideways, and they take part only in the sliding movements of the respective plates, not their pivoting.

    Abstract: A fuel tapping device for an engine-independent, auxiliary motor vehicle heater is provided which taps fuel from a fuel storage tank of a motor vehicle fuel supply unit and feeds the fuel to the motor vehicle heater by a connecting pipe. This fuel tapping device has a flexible pipe which has a smallest possible cross section and which is placed in a fuel pipe part that projects into the fuel storage tank so that its free end extends to near the bottom of the fuel storage tank. The fuel tapping device can comprise an intermediate piece, which can be Y-shaped, and uses a branch leg for catheter-like insertion of the flexible pipe. As an alternative, the fuel tapping device can also be designed so that the flexible pipe is fixed in the intermediate piece and forms a preassembled unit with it.

    Abstract: Ventilator roof for use in motor vehicles with a roof opening in a fixed roof surface which can be closed by a cover. The cover can be swung by pivoting around a pivoting axis, at, or near its rear edge, into a ventilation position in which the cover front edge is below the roof surface, while the cover rear edge is kept at the height of the roof surface, and a ventilation gap is formed between the cover front edge and the front edge of the roof opening. At least one electrically powered blower is built into a ventilation channel leading from the ventilation gap into the vehicle interior. The blower can be powered by solar cells or the on-board vehicle power unit (battery) with safeguards to prevent use when the vehicle power unit lacks sufficient charge. In some embodiments, arrangements are also provided to enable the blower to provide ventilation of the interior space of the vehicle even when the cover is closed.

Time-dependent or as an alternative to this, when the temperature is less than a lower threshold temperature, an automatic moving of the roof part that can be opened into a second open position takes place, in which a smaller roof opening is created. The process and roof system enable quick removal of a build-up of heat when getting in the vehicle and in the beginning phase of a drive.

The flexible safety element can be designed as a catch band or catch cloth, and with the design as a catch cloth it can, at the same time, serve as a making screen. Further the flexible safety element can be physically or operatively connected to the sliding device and/or the vent device. This means at least one end of the flexible safety element can be movably guided, optionally in separate channels, on the guide rail which is fastened to the roof frame.

These sections of the covering can be uniformly produced of plastic or metal or individual sections can be produced of plastic and others, in turn, of metal. Also, the guide insert as well as the covering can be produced entirely of plastic.
