    Abstract: Wind deflector for motor vehicle roofs with a cover to close or open a roof opening. The wind deflector exhibits an air conducting profile placed on the front edge of the roof opening that can be pushed out into an operating position under the influence of spring force and actuating arms connected to it which are hinged to pivot on an integral part of the roof and which, by sliding the cover in the closing direction, lower the air conducting profile member into a nonoperating position. The air conducting profile member carries a stopping strip which extends at least almost entirely over its full length and which, in the operating position of the wind deflector, lies against a stop on the front edge of the roof opening and thus limits the pushing-out movement of the wind deflector.

Until a first predetermined temperature of the coolant is reached, the coolant, is circulated in the complete motor vehicle coolant circuit.

    Abstract: Vehicle roof having a cover which, in a closed position, covers a roof opening in a fixed roof surface, and which can be extended above a fixed roof surface by pivotal movement about a pivotal axis which extends between its lateral edges. Below the cover, a cover liner is provided which, during upward extension of the cover, is bent about a center axis which is parallel to the pivotal axis of the cover. The liner, in a transversely extending center area, is provided with at least one cutout that extends transversely across a main portion of the liner and which reaches downwardly from the upper side of the liner, through a portion of the thickness of the liner sufficient to create a flexible hinge-like portion, thus permitting the liner to bend when the cover is extended. When the liner is in its unbent condition, the cutout has a cross-sectional shape that widens upwardly.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a high performance burner whose performance can be controlled in a stepless manner. To this end, a premixing chamber is upstream of a burner nozzle that extends into a combustion chamber. Fuel is supplied in controllable amounts to the premixing chamber, and a mixture, in the form of an emulsion, is prepared therefrom by means of air supplied from an auxiliary air line. The air-fuel mixture thus prepared is passed to the burner nozzle which diffuses it in the combustion chamber. A high performance burner in accordance with the invention is designed for use as a heating device of high performance, like an independent heating device but, advantageously, can be employed as an exhaust gas afterburner, whereby the high performance burner is disposed in an exhaust gas line of a combustion engine, or a branch line thereto.

The guide insert and the covering form the tracks for a slidable guide element and the cable guide channels for actuating cables, which interact with an appropriately suitable actuation device for displacing the cover panel. The guide insert can be made of plastic or metal, and the covering is advantageously divided into a front side section and side sections. These sections of the covering can be uniformly produced of plastic or metal or individual sections can be produced of plastic and others, in turn, of metal. Also, the guide insert as well as the covering can be produced entirely of plastic.

For initiating the regeneration of such so-called soot filter units, the burner generates hot combustion gases at the outlet thereof. The burner includes, at a distance from the discharge opening of a fuel injection nozzle, a baffle barrier that extends approximately perpendicular to the center axis of the fuel injection nozzle. This baffle barrier divides the combustion chamber into an energy-rich zone with a gas mixture prepared to be ignitable and a second zone in which the exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine is diverted.

    Abstract: A soot filtering unit in the exhaust gas system of a diesel internal combustion engine that includes at least two parallel soot filters. For regeneration, a regeneration device, having at least one burner and control flap, is provided upstream from the soot filters of the soot filtering unit. The burner(s) provided in the soot filtering unit supplies high temperature gases for the regeneration of the soot filters, and exhaust gas from the exhaust gas pipe is fed thereto as an oxygen carrier for the combustion process. According to a first embodiment, a single burner is provided for all soot filters to be regenerated and the burner does not lie directly in the pipes of the exhaust gas pipe that conveys exhaust gas to the soot filters. Preferably, exhaust gas is supplied to the burner(s) through separate exhaust gas feed pipes but, alternatively, a separate burner can be located directly in each branch of the exhaust pipe upstream of the respective soot filter provided therein.

The installation unit can be attached directly to the roof opening by connecting brackets that may be attachment flanges or the like, or by a frame, mounted to or formed by the fixed roof area bordering the perimeter of the roof opening. A water drainage device may be provided that is formed from the fixed interior headliner or may be a separate water-collecting basin carried by the interior headliner. If a slidable interior headliner is provided, the tracks can be formed directly on the fixed interior headliner or may be constructed on the water-collecting basin, if such a basin is provided.

    Abstract: A water type heater, in particular a vehicle auxiliary heater having a temperature safety mechanism, intended to prevent overheating damage to temperature-sensitive parts of the heater, that utilizes a contact sensor that is in heat conducting connection with the heat exchanger. As a heat conducting connection, a direct physical contact between the heat exchanger and a water jacket casing of the heater can be utilized that is, preferably, achieved with the aid of a projection, and optionally, a diametrically opposite projection acting as countersupport. In a modified embodiment, an elastic body that conducts heat well can be placed in a compressed state between the jacket casing and the heat exchanger. The contact sensor then lies against the outer surface of the casing as the temperature safety mechanism. The elastic body that conducts heat well is suitably made in the form of a disk made of a graphite material.

    Abstract: A burner for hard-to-ignite mixtures, such as with exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine, in which an ignitable mixture is prepared in a locally limited area for producing an ignition flame that is then used for igniting the hard-to-ignite mixture. According to one embodiment, the burner has an auxiliary ignition burner that is integrated into the actual burner and that is operated with compressed air, which is delivered either by a vehicle compressed air system or by a separately provided air compressor. In an alternative embodiment, air is fed in, additionally, by an air injection device to an outlet area of the fuel nozzle and in the vicinity of the ignition device to prepare an extremely ignitable mixture in this area, which is used to generate an ignition flame. The air injection device can be supplied with compressed air in the same manner as for the auxiliary ignition burner in the first embodiment.

    Abstract: A heating device, particularly an automotive heating device, in which a noise muffling device is integrated within the heating device. The muffler can be provided in the combustion pipe defining the combustion chamber, or the combustion pipe, itself, can be designed as the muffler. The muffler operates by absorption and/or reflection sound muffling techniques in accordance with various embodiments, and may, simultaneously, purify the combustion gases, for example, by catalytic afterburning, and/or by filtering of soot particles. The muffler is arranged in a hot zone, but not in the flame area of the combustion chamber, to achieve a self-cleaning action. In other embodiments, noise muffling material is arranged in an exhaust gas collection chamber to achieve sound muffling based on reflection and/or absorption and/or other conventional sound reduction methods. In all cases, the need for an external muffler in the exhaust line from the heating device is eliminated.
