  • Patent number: 4699112
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for diesel engines, in which the pressure chamber of each cylinder (10) is defined on its side opposite the piston (16) by a slide valve (38) movable in a direction opposite the piston against the action of resilient biasing means (52). The slide valve is sensitive to the supply pressure of the fuel and controls communication between the pressure chamber and the fuel delivery passage (44, 46). The supply pressure is controlled by external modulating means which varies the equilibrium position of the slide valve. The slide valve allows the initial alteration of the effective delivery, and hence the effective injection advance, in dependence on the running conditions/load of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4627596
Abstract: A valve includes an air inlet for air coming from a first part of an engine intake passage, which is positioned upstream of a throttle valve and an air outlet for air moving toward a second part of the intake passage which is positioned downstream of the throttle valve. A hollow tubular element is connected to the air inlet and has primary connecting orifices between the air inlet and the air outlet. A movable obturator is housed within the tubular element. A magnetic core and winding is energized by an electrical control unit to generate a magnetic field to move a conical edge of the obturator to selectively open the primary connecting orifices to obtain laminar air flow across the primary connecting orifices, with this laminar air flow being directly proportional to the air passage section provided by the opened primary connecting orifices.

  • Patent number: 4569321
Abstract: A carburetor is provided which has a main barrel in which there is a throttle which turns integrally with a shaft. An idle system opens into the main barrel through three holes; and a lever is splined to the shaft and connected to the accelerator to open the throttle against the action of a spring. Stop devices operate on the lever to define a first position of the throttle for which the holes are upstream. A second lever is idle mounted on the shaft. This second lever uses pushers and operates against the action of a rod positioned by a rotating cam with an electromagnetic element, or electronic gear box to rotate the first lever. This second lever defines, when the accelerator is released, small opening positions of the throttle differing from the first position. A microprocessor gearbox processes the signals expressing the functioning conditions of the engine to operate the electromagnetic element or electronic gear box.

  • Patent number: 4524742
Abstract: A carburetor is provided which includes a sensor mounted in the engine head for monitoring cooling water temperature, and sensors for monitoring engine RPM and intake manifold absolute pressure. A first positioning unit positions the throttle valve, prior to depression of the accelerator, in a plurality of angular positions as a function of the cooling water temperature. A second positioning unit positions the choke valve as a function of the cooling water temperature to limit the amount of opening of the choke valve caused by air sucked into the carburetor by the engine. The second positioning unit has a spring for biasing the choke valve to close the choke valve to prevent swinging of the choke valve when the engine is turned off. A central processing unit receives signals from the first, second and third sensors to control the first and second positioning units to position the throttle valve and the choke valve respectively.
