Patents Assigned to Weiler Engineering, Inc.
  • Patent number: 6387073
Abstract: A hermetically sealed container and a medicament bearing insert assembly therefor are disclosed. The medicament bearing insert assembly is protected by a severable overcap. A pocket within the insert assembly is provided with a pierceable membrane. Rupture of the membrane by a built-in plunger causes the medicament to drop out of the pocket and into the container where it is mixed with the container contents.

  • Patent number: 6145285
Abstract: An apparatus and method for molding and optionally filling a container including an extruder head for extruding a length of parison and a vibrating knife operatively associated with the apparatus for reciprocating movement and having a blade positioned below the extruder head which traverses the path of the extruded parison to sever the parison. Preferably, the vibrating knife vibrates the blade at ultrasonic frequencies.

  • Patent number: 5901832
Abstract: An apparatus for conveying bags along a path which includes a plurality of work stations. The conveyor apparatus includes a plurality of conveyor assemblies. Each of the conveyor assemblies includes opposed belt assemblies, one of which is laterally displaceable. Opposed belts of the opposed belt assemblies are contiguous for grasping the sides of the bags and transporting the bags in a generally upright orientation as the belts are driven in synchronism.

  • Patent number: 5503885
Abstract: An article, such as a card of thermoplastic material containing vials, is molded by a method and apparatus which deforms a portion of the mold flash so as to form a reference surface. In a preferred embodiment, the article has a pair of lower walls extending from a central wall in a generally inverted V-shape configuration diverging from an apex which defines a downwardly facing reference surface from which a predetermined reference position can be established for subsequent operations. A conveyor belt can be employed to engage the reference surface and support the article at the reference position.

  • Patent number: 5323527
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for use in the fabrication of an electrical chemical cell having a spiral wound core. An anode plate and a first separator sheet are Juxtaposed in an adjacent relationship and restrained against relative lengthwise displacement. A cathode plate is Juxtaposed with a second separator sheet in an adjacent relationship and also restrained against relative lengthwise displacement. Portions of the first and second separator sheets are overlapped and restrained against relative movement while the restrained overlapping end portions are rotated Continuously about an axis so as to wind the plates and separator sheets into a coiled core which can be inserted into an electrochemical cell casing. The apparatus includes a vacuum holding member for holding the anode plate and first separator sheet together, and includes a vacuum holding member for holding the cathode place and second separator sheet together.

  • Patent number: 5121827
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed suitable for presenting a container at a labeling station where the container is oriented before, during or after the time a label is affixed to the container. The apparatus includes a turntable that is rotatable about a fixed axis. A turret is provided on the turntable for rotation about a turret axis substantially parallel to the fixed axis. The turret is adapted to receive a container. A cam follower carriage is mounted to the turntable for reciprocal movement along the turret axis and is operatively engaged with the turret for rotating the turret when reciprocated. Reciprocal movement is imparted to the carriage by a lower cam.

  • Patent number: 5099569
Abstract: An apparatus and method for fabricating a consolidated assembly of cathode material in a dry cell battery casing having a closed end and an open end are disclosed. The casings are moved in a path to a selected transfer region on a circular locus, into registry with a die assembly, and along an arc of the circular locus in the transfer region at the same angular velocity as the die assembly. Each casing is engaged by a rotating die assembly in which a quantity of fluent cathode material has been deposited in an upwardly open receiving chamber of the lower die assembly. The casing is retained in position on the lower die assembly while a core pin and annular shoulder punch are elevated through the receiving chamber to force the cathode material into the casing and to compact the cathode material into an annular configuration.
