    Abstract: A process for producing 2,5-diamino-6-nitropyridine derivatives having the general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 represent hydrogen or the radicals alkyl, hydroxy alkyl, dihydroxy alkyl, alkoxy alkyl, alkoxy carbonyl, hydroxy- or chlorine-substituted alkoxy carbonyl, aminoalkyl and aminoalkyl substituted by alkyl or hydroxy alkyl groups, the alkyl groups in each case containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an oxazolidinone ring being formed by R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 and/or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4. The present invention also relates to novel 2,5-diamino-6-nitropyridine derivatives and to a hair dyeing agent containing 2,5-diamino-6-nitropyridine derivatives, which are direct nitro dyes coloring the hair yellow orange to blue violet and are physiologically harmless.

    Abstract: A cosmetic composition is disclosed for the treatment of hair or skin, based upon 0.05 to 10% by weight of chitosan, and characterized by a content of 0.05 to 20% by weight of an ampholytic copolymerizate of formula (I) ##STR1## wherein m=0.5 to 0.9, n=0.1 to 0.5, m+n=1 and p being such that the ampholytic copolymerizate has a molecular weight of from 1,000 to 3,000,000.wherein m=0.1 to 0.9 and n=0.5 to 0.9. The composition provides clear, smooth films, which are neither sticky in moist climate, nor brittle in dry climate. Also disclosed are new chitosan/polyampholyte salts, obtained by reaction of chitosan with an ampholytic copolymerizate of formula (I).

    Abstract: The hairwax comprises a combination of(a) 10 to 41 percent by weight polyethylene glycol (M.W.=3000 to 5000).(b) 8 to 25 percent by weight hydrogenated castor oil which is ethoxylated with 40 to 60 moles ethylene oxide,(c) 36 to 51 percent by weight glycerol and/or ethyl hexanediol and/or polyethylene glycol (M.W.=100 to 300),(d) 0 to 15 percent by weight water.Our hairwax may also contain0 to 6 percent by weight of a cosmetic dyestuff and/or0 to 25 percent by weight of a pearl-luster pigment. The hairwax can be easily rinsed out of the hair but has good hairstyling properties.

In addition, it is directed to new N-hydroxybutyl-chitosans and their salts and a process for producing these new compounds from butylene oxide and chitosan.

    Abstract: The quaternary chitosan derivatives useful in cosmetic compositions are made by a process comprising reacting a chitosan consisting of 50 to 100% deacetylized chitin or a structurally modified chitosan made by reprecipitating and deep freezing, with glycidyl trialkyl ammonium halogenide, particularly glycidyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, and, if necessary, with glycidol. The reaction mixture is advantageously stirred for several hours at 10.degree. to 100.degree. C. The reaction may be performed in the presence of an organic or inorganic acid or base in water.

The compounds of the invention, along with 2,4-diaminotetrafluoroethoxybenzene, are useful as coupler components in oxidative hair coloring agents. A process for making the compounds, as well as a separate process for making the mono-N-.beta.-hydroxyethyl compounds, is provided.

    Abstract: Skin treating composition on the basis of compatible carrier and additional compositions with a content of a defined tetrahydro-1,3-thiazine-2,4-dion derivatives as active ingredients for thickening the epidermis. The skin treating compositions are applied 1-2 times daily onto the skin for about 3 to 4 weeks. Due to the thickening of the epidermis they cause a reinforcement of the skin, in particular against sun rays, cold and the contact with noxious environmental substances of all kinds. Moreover, the skin treating compositions are suitable for a prophylactic fighting of the so-called old age skin. An object of the invention are novel tetrahydro-1,3-thiazine-2,4-dion derivative which are active in the aforementioned manner having the formula ##STR1## wherein R denotes H, alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl has substituted arylalkyl or substituted aryl in the aryl portion, R.sup.2 =H is aryl or substituted aryl, R.sup.b =H, denotes aryl or substituted aryl and R.sup.3 =H, represents alkyl or aryl, provided that R.sup.
