Patent number: 6089008Abstract: A line splice has two lengths of fibrous rope that have multiple strands and interstices. The two lengths are held adjacent to each other by a plastic encapsulate that both surrounds the two rope lengths and fills the interstices. In forming the splice a two part polyurethane complex plastic is injected into the mold to create an exothermic reaction and heat sufficient to cause the plastic to flow both inside and outside the two lengths of fibrous rope.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1998Date of Patent: July 18, 2000Assignee: Wellington Leisure Products, Inc.Inventor: John H. Lucius

Patent number: 5852926Abstract: A balanced strand includes a fibrous core about which load bearing fibers are twisted. The fibrous core has an elongation factor of at least 10% and comprises approximately up to 30% of the material volume of the strand. The load bearing fibers have an elongation factor less than the fibrous core and a strength of at least 15 g denier. The load bearing fibers comprise the remaining strand material volume.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1997Date of Patent: December 29, 1998Assignee: Wellington Leisure Products, Inc.Inventor: James R. Breedlove

Patent number: 5263658Abstract: A rack (10) for displaying and dispensing spools of rope one behind the other in limited spaces. The rack has a base (13), a plate (12) reciprocally mounted to the base, and a frame (11) pivotably mounted to the plate. The frame includes rods (22) for rotatably mounting spools of rope one behind the other.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1992Date of Patent: November 23, 1993Assignee: Wellington Leisure Products, Inc.Inventors: William E. Baucom, Robert Monk

Patent number: 5097733Abstract: An apparatus 10 for safely cutting cordage has central frame members 11 that defines a cord working space 17 in which a cutting blade 33 having an elongated cutting edge 34 is mounted. Spring biased blade guards 40 are mounted on each side of the blade which are movable between a position shielding the blade cutting edge and a position exposing the blade cutting edge. A length of cordage is manually cut by drawing it against the blade guards and forcing them from their blade edge shielding position to their blade edge exposing position and then drawing the cordage over the exposed blade edge.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1991Date of Patent: March 24, 1992Assignee: Wellington Leisure Products, Inc.Inventor: Robert J. Benkoski

Patent number: 5052963Abstract: A device for movement over a viscuous or liquid medium, such as a water ski, has a textured contact surface which includes the bottom and side edges of the ski. The texture is formed of shallow dimples.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1990Date of Patent: October 1, 1991Assignee: Wellington Leisure Products, Inc.Inventor: Joseph A. Johnson, III

Patent number: 5021017Abstract: A water sports board (10) has a base (11) formed with rows of detent teeth (16) for locking engagement with the peripheral teeth (26) of binder plates (22), so that the binder plate may be angularly or longitudinally adjusted relative to the base. The board also has a pair of boots (21, 23) that are mounted to the binder plates and mounting assemblies for mounting the binder plates to the base.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1990Date of Patent: June 4, 1991Assignee: Wellington Leisure Products, Inc.Inventor: Arthur Ott

Patent number: 4897063Abstract: A reaction injection molded recreation board with spaced rectangular reinforcing rods. The rods are rectangular in cross section and are disposed between upper and lower surfaces of the board. Position clips maintain the reinforcing rods in mutually spaced relationships within an injection mold during the process of injecting foam plastic. The structure of the positioning clips is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1985Date of Patent: January 30, 1990Assignee: Wellington Leisure Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert S. Scheurer, Kendal Hancock

Patent number: 4897231Abstract: An anodized aluminum sheet is prepared by applying an aqueous polyurethane 40 percent dispersion coating with a threaded roller having 20-1/32 inch deep triangular threads per inch. The coating is heated by graduated heating from about 125 degrees F. to about 240 degrees F. for about 20 minutes until the material is set and non-tacky. Thereafter, without special storage or handling requirements, the coated side of the anodized aluminum is bonded in a mold under reaction injection molding pressure to a reaction injection molding material.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1989Date of Patent: January 30, 1990Assignee: Wellington Leisure Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert S.
