Patents Assigned to Weston Research, Corporation
  • Patent number: 4342597
Abstract: A composition for coating the refractory liners of ladles and troughs for pouring and/or conveying molten metals comprising an aqueous dispersion containing finely divided zirconia, a colloidal silica, finely divided mica, finely divided zircon, finely divided bentonite and, optionally, an inert coloring agent. The coating composition is capable of re-bonding fractured liners and the resulting coating prolongs the effective life of the liner and exhibits superior reflectivity, causing the molten metal to retain its heat which facilitates better pouring.

  • Patent number: 4319925
Abstract: A composition for coating the molding surfaces of molds for casting metal parts comprising an aqueous dispersion containing finely divided zirconia, a colloidal silica composition, finely divided mica, finely divided zircon, finely divided bentonite and, optionally, an inert coloring agent. While capable of protecting the molding surfaces against high temperature molten metal and producing castings having substantially defect-free surfaces, the coating composition provides cleaner castings by partially attaching to the casting and spalling off as the casting cools.

  • Patent number: 4294622
Abstract: The dry wall joint compound, which can be used to completely close and fill joints between adjoining panel of gypsum dry wall board without a tape material, comprises a powdered mixture of gypsum, hydrated gypsum, calcium carbonate, plaster of paris, hydrated amorphous silica and talc. The dry wall joint compound can be admixed with water to provide a dry wall joint cement and preferably is admixed with a liquid additive composition comprising an aqueous mixture of zinc oxide, sodium acetate, ammonium alum, and an acrylic resin.

  • Patent number: 4267089
Abstract: A coating composition, particularly adapted for providing a flame-resistant, decorative finish coating on walls constructed from wall board, comprising an aqueous dispersion containing nepheline syenite, aluminum hydrate, sodium silicate, wollastonite, titanium dioxide, an acrylic resin, zinc oxide, hydrated magnesium aluminum silicate and water, and optionally an anti-foaming agent and a dispersing agent. The coating composition can be painted onto the wall surface and is capable of "hiding" relatively deep surface indentations with one coat.
