  • Patent number: 5714023
Abstract: A method for sealing the open end of two compartment containers which are filled through an opening in the lower terminal end of each compartment. The method consists of placing a steel platen between the compartments at the lower end terminal edges of each compartment so that the terminal edges confront the opposing side faces of the platen. The lower terminal edges are then heated and a pair of dies are activated towards and away from one another to apply pressure to the lower terminal edges to seal the edges against the platen.

  • Patent number: 5590780
Abstract: An assembly comprising a container having a body portion and a nozzle at one end of reduced cross-section, a closure cap engagable over the nozzle portion, at least one internal rib in the container adjacent the juncture of the body portion and nozzle extending downwardly into the body portion a predetermined depth whereby when container and cap are nested, and the cap portion of a first container cap assembly engages interiorly the body portion to a point where it abuts the ribs, there is defined a gap of predetermined axial distance between the lower edge of the body portion of the first container cap assembly and the transition shoulder between the body portion and nozzle of a second container cap assembly.

  • Patent number: 5590798
Abstract: A cap and tube assembly comprising: a tube for containing a product. A nozzle at one end of the tube has a thin wall portion defining a diaphragm puncturable to provide a discharge opening for dispensing of products. The cap is engagable over the nozzle and has puncturing means depending inwardly from the top of the cap operable upon actuation of the cap relative to the nozzle to puncture the diaphragm. Rib means on the interior of the cap snugly embraces the nozzle during axial movement of the cap to ensure alignment of the piercing element with a diaphragm during the piercing operation.

  • Patent number: 5221017
Abstract: A unitary closure assembly having a cap body that has an upper portion with a substantially conical drop dispensing tip including a ringed protrusion disposed around the base of said tip, and a lower portion that can be secured to an opening in a container. The cap body has a lid secured to it by a hinge. The lid comprises a substantially conical raised portion that is adapted to enclose and cover the drop dispensing tip on the cap body. The lid has a raised ring disposed on its inner side which seals the opening in the drop dispensing tip, and a ringed depression in the inner side which mates with the ringed protrusion on the drop dispensing tip.

  • Patent number: 5170380
Abstract: A holding device for medication containers of essentially any size or shape provides the patient with the last time the medicine was taken and includes a housing with a cylindrical cup shape opening with a micro switch member extending through an access opening into the cavity form one side of the opening. Individual positioning devices in the form of vertical open cylindrical tubes are sized to fit particular containers with the cylinders positioned proximate the switch member with an opening to allow the switch member to extend into the cylindrical bore opening. A bushing and interlocking tab index the position of each cylindrical tube in the correct position each time the positioning device is inserted into the base section of holding device. The sensor signal that a container is placed in the base is used to provide through numerical display the time the last medication was taken, the elapsed time since that dose and the number of times the medication was accessed in one day.
