  • Patent number: 4214419
Abstract: In a packaging apparatus, articles are collated and formed into a module on a carriage assembly and are transported into a draped wrapping film and to means for sealing the wrapped module. Common movement of the sides of the carriage assembly are provided so as to ensure the stability of the collated article pattern. The draped wrapping film is under tension and is aligned with respect to the direction of travel of the carriage assembly. Side and transverse rear sealing of the wrapped module is provided, and the means for rear sealing the module also cuts the wrapping film and splices the unused wrapping film for return to its draped position. The wrapped and sealed module is transferred by a conveyor means from its wrapping position to a means for shrinking the wrapping film over the article module.

  • Patent number: 4200428
Abstract: Apparatus for sensing contaminant material or hung-up work pieces on mandrels, such as the core rods of injection blow molding machines, consists of a sensing member adapted to be moved through a programmed path corresponding to the bottom contour edge of the mandrel and to give an output responsive signal when any material or work piece remains on the mandrel and interrupts the programmed movement of the sensing member. Generally, one or more horizontally extending mandrels are checked by a sensing member linked through a connecting member with a cam following a cam track corresponding in shape and located below the bottom contour edge of the mandrel to be checked. In the preferred form of the invention, an injection blow molding machine includes an automatic stripper and checker, in which stripping fingers associated with the connecting member precede the sensing member and thus strip a preformed work piece off the mandrel simultaneously with the checker sensing member movement along the mandrel length.

  • Patent number: 4168783
Abstract: An intravenous bottle holder providing support of the bottle when the bottle is shipped or stored in its upright position, and providing a means for securely hanging the bottle in inverted position during its use, is provided. The bottle holder comprises an integral molded structure including a disc member having an opening therein, a pleated bail member spanning the opening, and an annular skirt depending from one disc side formed with an annular snap ring on the inside skirt portion so that the holder can be demountably attached to a desired bottle.

  • Patent number: 4050407
Abstract: Apparatus for applying thermoplastic coating to glass containers includes a plurality of chuck bars, from each of which a plurality of container holding chucks are suspended, each of the chucks consisting of a U-shaped member upon which a lip or projection on the container neck is supported and from which the container is suspended and a loosely fitting cap member which drops over the top of the container. The chuck bars are supported by end members adapted to be transferred along a transfer track, preferably including rollers to facilitate such transfer. Movable transfer track segments are provided, to transfer chuck bars at specific positions for container pick-up and container coating. To effect longitudinal transfer of the chuck bars, elongated pusher members are disposed parallel to the transfer tracks. The pusher members includes dogs for engaging and disengaging the end members of the plurality of chuck bars.
