Abstract: A process for rendering synthetic materials, of synthetic fibers or mixtures of the same flame resistant which entails employing water insoluble flame retardant agents which are treated as colorless pigments, reduced to extremely finely divided condition, suspended in aqueous medium and applied as such or as part of a dispersed dye paste to the fabric, dried and set in place.
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for rendering non-thermoplastic fibers and fibrous compositions flame resistant when contacted with a hot molten material, that involves the application thereto of a flame retardant composition incorporating a water-insoluble, non-phosphorous, solid, particulate mixture of brominated organic compound and a metal oxide or a metal oxide and metal hydrate.

Abstract: A process and product for rendering synthetic material, of synthetic fibers or mixtures of the same flame resistant which entails employing water insoluble flame retardant agents which are treated as colorless pigments, reduced to extremely finely divided condition, suspended in aqueous medium and applied as such or as part of a dispersed dye paste to the fabric, dried and set in place.
Abstract: A process for rendering natural materials, synthetic materials and blend of same, flame retardant which entails treating said materials with an aqueous dispersion of a brominated aliphatic compound, said brominated compound being a solid at room temperature, substantially insoluble in water and having been reduced to a fine particle size, together in the same bath with an emulsion of a suitable adhesive polymeric binder, followed by drying and baking.

Abstract: A process for rendering natural and synthetic materials and blends of the same flame retardant which entails treating the same with an aqueous dispersion of the flame retardant agent reduced to a finely divided state suspended in a latex medium and applied to the material with a finely divided metal oxide as synergist, by any convenient means; dried and set in place by baking. The active flame retardant agents are chlorinated cyclopentadieno compounds, chlorobrominated cyclopentadieno compounds, applied alone or in admixture with each other, or in admixture with brominated cyclopentadieno compounds, and in admixture with metallic oxides. The active flame retardant agents are reduced to a fine state of subdivision, preferably under 2 microns average particle diameter.
