  • Patent number: 5353713
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling operation of a railcar discharge gate assembly including a frame defining a discharge opening with a gate slidably arranged on the frame for movement along a predetermined path of travel between open and closed positions. The apparatus of the present invention includes an operating shaft rotatably supported on the frame for selectively moving the gate between open and closed positions in response to rotation of the shaft. A lock assembly is carried on the frame and is operably coupled to the operating shaft. The lock assembly includes a displacable stop member which, when the gate is closed, extends into the path of travel of the gate to prevent movement of the gate relative to the frame, and which moves in timed relation relative to movement of the gate such that upon rotation of the operating shaft to move the gate to an open position the stop member is automatically removed from the path of travel of the gate prior to movement of the gate toward an open position.

  • Patent number: 5165740
Abstract: In a rotary tube locking mechanism, the rotary tube itself is expanded into and against a steel ring which journals the tube to form an obstruction. A guide plate cooperates with this obstruction to provide an anti-racking function.

  • Patent number: 4869023
Abstract: A mechanism including a latch and keeper adapted to cooperate in an interengaging relationship relative to each other to facilitate aligning and latching of a hinged cargo container door. The latch is attached to one end of a rotatable shaft which is rotatably mounted parallel to an outer face of the door and is substantially immovable in an axial direction in relation to the door. The keeper is attached to a transverse member of a door frame on the cargo container. A device for rotating the shaft and thereby moving the latch into a cooperative relationship with the keeper is also provided. The latch has an elongated wedge-shaped finger defining inner and outer curved camming surfaces. The keeper includes a base portion and first and second projecting portions at each end of the base portion. The keeper defines spaced apart inner and outer curved camming surfaces which define a latch locking zone therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4747736
Abstract: A hanger which supports a temporary deck in an intermodal container. The hanger is removably secured to a ledge, which is part of the container, and extends downwardly toward the floor. One set of hangers is placed along each wall and the temporary deck is extended between them. The hanger itself includes a hook end and a link pivotally secured to a lower position. The link pivotally carries the hanger strap that extends down the wall. The hook end fits over the top of the ledge while the link contacts it on the bottom in a pliers-like grip. As vertical force is placed upon the hanger strap, the grip of the hook end and link increases.
