Abstract: A data acquisition and recording system (DARS) and viewer for mobile assets that includes a data encoder, onboard data manager, and at least one local memory module. DARS processes video data from at least one 360 degree camera and stores a compressed record of the data at least once per second in the local memory module. DARS is designed to run in near real-time mode, storing a full record comprising five minutes of data to a remote memory module every five minutes, and in real-time mode, streaming video data to the remote memory module by uploading a record of data at least once per second and up to once every tenth of a second. Remotely located users can view video, audio, and data in various view modes through a web browser or virtual reality device, which provides for quicker emergency response, validate the effectiveness of repairs and rerouting, and monitor crew performance and safety.

Abstract: A mobile asset cellular device transmission detector system and method comprises a mobile asset cellular device transmission detector, a wireless processing unit, an event recorder, and a digital video recorder. The wireless processing unit includes event recorder interface software, digital video recorder interface software that obtains data from the digital video recorder, wireless navigation (Wi-Nav) software that obtains data from the Wi-Nav, global positioning system (GPS) software that obtains data from a GPS and geo-fence software. The cellular device transmission detector continually checks for cellular device transmissions within a mobile asset and whether those transmissions were associated with an impact, rollover, operator action or geo-fence defined location and/or boundary.

When a cellular device transmission was made, the wireless processing unit triggers an episode and sends event recorder information, GPS location and speed, audio and video recordings, and impact and rollover information to a back office.

Abstract: An acceleration-based mobile asset data recorder and transmitter equipped with a wireless processing unit, an event recorder, a digital video recorder, a fuel level sensor, and an inertial navigation sensor board. The inertial navigation sensor board includes a 3-axis gyroscope, a 3-axis accelerometer, a 3-axis magnetometer, and a microcontroller. The data recorder and transmitter allows for automatic orientation, automatic compass calibration, fuel compensation with pitch and roll, emergency brake application with impact detection, rough operating condition detection, engine running detection, and inertial navigation of a mobile asset. Users can use the normal operation of their mobile assets to locate and alert, in real-time, areas where their assets are encountering rough operating environments, to provide for quicker emergency response, and to validate the effectiveness of repairs and rerouting.

Abstract: A universal event/data recorder system provides a common bridge between various event/data recorders found on mobile assets. The universal event/data recorder system includes an onboard segment that is capable of interfacing with any manufacturer's event/data recorder device. Additionally, the universal event/data recorder system also includes a remote segment for accessing, analyzing and reviewing data collected from any of a plurality of event/data recorders. The universal event/data recorder system may allow accessing data from various event/data recorders using any of a number of communication means including the Internet and a wireless communication network.
