Abstract: According to the invention this component includes a shackle of conventional type, that is to say which has a U-shaped body of substantially uniform diameter, and includes an insert made of synthetic material overmolded on the rounded end and on the base of the side arms of the shackle, this insert including a central part of circular shape, of greater diameter than that of the body of the shackle, and side bulges demarcating, with this central part, a groove for receiving a rope.
Abstract: A device for automatically securing in the hoist position the head of a sail of a sailing vessel on the mast of a vessel. The device comprises a body, one end of which is fitted with a device for securing the sail and the other end of which has passing through it a rod on which is fixed the halyard for handling the sail. In the body a hook is articulated, one arm of the hook projecting outwardly. A piston integrally formed with the rod is forced by a spring against the hook. When the piston is resting against the hook, the hook is locked, while in the opposite case the hook may pivot freely.
Abstract: A device is provided for a screw connection between two pieces which can adjust the distance between the two pieces. The device comprises a first threaded piece and a second smooth piece with an annular groove close to its free end. A connector ring is screwed onto the threaded shank and engaged on the smooth piece. The connector ring has a groove of variable depth. An incompressible retaining ring is engaged in the grooves of the second piece and the connector ring. The device can be used to produce a single tension element.
Abstract: A snap shackle has a body formed on one side with an attachment such as a swivel eye and on the other side with a C-shaped arm having an outer end forming a pivot for a complementarily shaped pivotal arm whose free end in turn is engageable against the shackle body to form another eye. A latch constituted as a stirrup pivotal about an axis parallel to the pivot axis of the pivotal arm is mounted on the shackle body and has a bight that can engage in a holding position over the free end of the pivotal arm to hold it in a closed position. This arm can be springy in such a manner that it seeks the holding position, or can be biased by a spring into the holding position. A trip line attached to the stirrup can displace it into a freeing position in which it allows the pivotal arm to swing away from the body and open up the shackle.

Abstract: A shackling device includes a U-shaped member and a pin. The ends of the U-shaped member are provided respectively with a threaded aperture and an unthreaded aperture. One end of the pin is provided with threads which are to be mated with the threads within the threaded aperture. The unthreaded aperture has a diameter which is larger than that of the portion of the pin which is not provided with threads. At least a portion of the unthreaded aperture is of smaller diameter than the diameter of the threaded portion of the pin. An eye is provided on that end of the pin which is not provided with threads.
