Patent number: 5004576Abstract: To monitor the pressing forces of an upper and lower piston of a tablet press which cooperate as a piston pair, in the currently-known process an average value formed from successive pressing force measurement results is compared with two adjustable tolerance bounds and that average value is correlated with two adjustable individual value limits which follow the course of this average value or are fixed. Maxima of individual pressing force measurements are compared with these individual value limits. To detect certain operational difficulties involving slight damage to an individual piston while avoiding tolerance ranges which are so narrow that frequent stopping of the press occurs piston pair average value limits, with which the piston pair average value of the pressing force is compared, are associated with the individual piston pairs. These piston pair average values are stored in a controlling computer which can stop the tablet press and indicate a faulty piston.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1989Date of Patent: April 2, 1991Assignee: Wilhelm Fette GmbHInventors: Juergen Hinzpeter, Hans-Dieter Gruedelbach

Patent number: 4999151Abstract: A method for quality assurance in the manufacture of tablets. Tablet samples consisting of a plurality of tablets are taken whose actual weight is compared with their nominal weight, so that the tabletting machine is subsequently adjusted according to the deviation in order to adjust the weight of the tablets to the nominal weight. If the sample of tablets contains one or several tablets which, as so-called error tablets, show significant deviation from the nominal weight due to flawed manufacture, inaccuracy of the result so obtained is avoided if prior to adjustment of the machine, the weights of the individual sample tablets are measured and compared with one another. If it is found that the sample contains tablets with significant deviation from their nominal weight, such tablets may be taken into account in the statistical analysis by corrective computation.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1989Date of Patent: March 12, 1991Assignee: Firma Wilhelm Fette GmbHInventor: Jurgen Hinzpeter

Patent number: 4167380Abstract: An apparatus for the manufacture of multilayer articles has a plurality of female dies mounted in a rotary disc. A plurality of feeding devices equal in number to the number of layers in the articles to be manufactured is distributed about the rotary disc. Each feeding device admits a quantity of material into the female dies as these travel by. A compressing device is arranged downstream of each feeding device as seen in the direction of movement of the female dies. The compressing devices compress the material admitted into the female dies by the respective feeding devices and also cause the various layers of material to adhere to one another. When the required number of layers has been formed, the resulting article is ejected from the respective female die. One or more of the feeding devices is movable to an inoperative position in which it is unable to feed the female dies. This movement may be effected while the female dies rotate.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1977Date of Patent: September 11, 1979Assignee: Wilhelm Fette GmbHInventors: Werner Stuben, Ulrich Zeuschner

Patent number: 4062914Abstract: A tablet compressing machine includes strain gauge sensors 5, 5' for monitoring the forces applied to piston rams 1, 2 by pressure rollers 3,4. The strain gauges are connected in a bridge circuit whose amplified output is fed to a mean value generator 15 and a logic control unit 9. The former generates a mean pressing force curve (A in FIG. 3) while the latter causes preset individual limit values for the pressing force signals (B, C in FIG. 3) to track fluctuations in the mean value curve, and compares the instantaneous pressing force signals with the individual limit values. Whenever these limit values are exceeded or fallen below the machine is disabled and the faulty ram is indicated on a display 14 by means of a sensor 7 which signals the ram being monitored. Means are also provided for disabling the machine whenever the mean value exceeds or falls below adjustable tolerance limits.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1976Date of Patent: December 13, 1977Assignee: Fa.
