A first method comprises displaying on a display (3) of an interactive information device (2) information selected from information for display stored in a memory of or accessible to the interactive information device (2), establishing a communications connection between the interactive information device (2) and a mobile communications device (20), and transmitting data to the interactive information device (2) from the mobile communications device (20) and/or from the interactive information device (2) to the mobile communications device (20).

Abstract: A method and system (2) for providing information to a mobile communications device (8), such as a mobile phone (8), is provided. The method comprises providing selection means, such as a button, icon or the like, for enabling selection of information, such as content that a user (4) wishes to receive. The method further comprises providing information, e.g. content, from information providing means (30), such as a server (30) or the like, to a communications means, in response to activation of the selection means. The method further comprises automatically transmitting further information, e.g. content, which may be the same as the original information and/or may be adapted, etc., from the communications means to a mobile communications device (8) such as a mobile phone (8). The communications means preferably comprises an application or other program or the like (preferably for a computer (10), laptop, etc.).

Abstract: There is provided a method of selecting information, the method comprising attempting to authenticate a mobile device (8) at an authentication point (4,6) and in response to the authentication attempt, selecting information for provision to the mobile device (8). Preferably the selected information comprises an application, program or other means for activating one or more functions or applications of the mobile device (8) and/or comprises information, content or data or the like and furthermore preferably is customised for the mobile device (8) and/or based on information regarding the device (8) such as its location, etc. Preferably the selected information is provided to the mobile device (8) in response to a successful authentication, preferably via a short range, wireless communications interaction.
