    Abstract: A fifth wheel hitch having three kingpin engagement jaws, two being pivotally shiftable and the third being a plunger slidable in a track to engage the kingpin and simultaneously project between the two pivotal jaws to prevent opening thereof. A wedge is transversely shiftable by a two-way fluid cylinder between the plunger and stop surface on the track to lock the jaws closed.
