    Abstract: A roll and an attachment using such a roll are disclosed for a road vehicle for forming a ditch by pressure in a rolling motion or shaping a pre-existing ditch by the same coaction. The roll member includes a centrally-located cylindrical surface adapted to form or to shape the base surface of a ditch and opposed shaping surfaces located on the opposite sides of the cylindrical surface for forming or shaping the opposed sidewalls of the ditch. The shaping surfaces may be conical or curvilinear, for example. Means are disclosed for removably securing the roll member to a road vehicle, such as an earth grader. A method for using such a member for forming or shaping a ditch is also enclosed.
