Patents Assigned to Willibald Grammer
  • Patent number: 4739959
Abstract: A seat comprising a seat base portion which is adjustable in respect of inclination has a seat base frame which is mounted pivotally at its rearward portion on a supporting arrangement. Disposed on the supporting arrangement in the front region thereof is a rotary shaft, with a lever arm secured to each end thereof. The lever arms are in turn pivotally connected to the seat base frame. At least one of the lever arms has a plurality of detent openings which are disposed in an arcuate array and which can be selectively engaged by a detent member carried by the seat base frame, to latch the seat base frame in the desired inclined position. The actuating lever for the detent member is disposed at the side of the seat, within easy reach of the occupant thereof.

  • Patent number: 4544598
Abstract: In a seat cushion with a textile cover, a lined foam layer on the textile cover and a cold foam core, a skin is formed on the lined foam at the side adjacent the cold foam core which prevents a penetration of the cold foam into the lined foam.

  • Patent number: 4484723
Abstract: An air-sprung vehicle seat wherein adjustment in respect of weight is provided by a control cam and two spaced-apart switches actuable thereby upon relative movement thereof in dependence on a variation in the seat height. One of the switches controls the supply of air into the air spring and the other the discharge of air therefrom. The switches each have two actuating stages such that, with increasing actuation, the first actuating stage serves as an idle stage and it is only in the subsequent second actuating stage that the respective switch is switched on, while, with decreasing actuation, a switch which has been switched on remains switched on until both actuating stages have passed.

  • Patent number: 4471934
Abstract: A driver's seat for tractors or the like has a system such as crossing levers or a parallelogram for keeping it horizontal on changes in level, which take place when a spring under the seat is compressed. For making possible adjustment to different weights of drivers without changing the natural frequency of the springing motion upwards and downwards of the seat, the spring has two runners acting on cams on the levers of the system so that, when the spring is moved in relation to the cams, the leverage of the spring by way of the levers on the top part of the seat is changed. Such horizontal motion of the spring is produced by a carriage pushed backwards and forwards by a threaded rod with a handwheel.

  • Patent number: 4461444
Abstract: A sprung vehicle seat which adjusts to a preset height, even when accommodating people of different weights, and which also permits adjustment of the preset height, is supported by a gas spring. An actuator which is linearly movable when there is a change in the seat height can cooperate with a switching mechanism, which includes a valve spaced apart from a switch, to control the volume of air in the gas spring. A holder carrying either the switching mechanism or the actuator is pivotably mounted on a slider which is linearly movable unless it is locked into place. When the holder is in a first angular position, the actuator and the switching mechanism are separated to avoid unnecessary actuation of the gas spring during bouncing movements, and when it is in a second angular position the actuator and the switching mechanism are moved toward each other so that they can cooperate to adjust the seat to the preset height.

  • Patent number: 4364605
Abstract: In a seat having a seat plate of adjustable inclination and a backrest of adjustable inclination, gas springs are provided for adjusting the inclination of the seat plate and backrest, the valve actuating pins of the gas springs being oppositely disposed and actuatable by an adjusting lever. The adjusting lever extends transversely to the valve actuating pin arrangement and is mounted to pivot vertically and horizontally about a common pivot point disposed beyond the straight connecting line between the valve actuating pins. In the preferred embodiment, two control arms on the seat carrier are movable in a scissor-like manner in a vertical plane containing the valve pin arrangement, the adjusting lever engaging between and co-operating with the control arms which co-operate with the valve actuating pins. This permits the inclination of the seat plate and the inclination of the backrest to be adjusted with a single operating element either at independent times or simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 4183492
Abstract: The seating member of a vehicle seat is mechanically lockable in a selected one of at least three defined positions. In one of these positions (normal position) the seating member is substantially parallel to the ground on which the vehicle is standing or travelling. In the at least two other positions, one on each side of said normal position, the seating member is tilted about a pivotal axis parallel to the direction of vehicle travel.

  • Patent number: 4158160
Abstract: A driver's seat is automatically adjustable for height in response to the weight of the person sitting in it. The seat is carried by a spring suspension which is displaceable by a reversible servo-motor. Scanning means for controlling the motor comprise an actuating member and two vertically spaced sensors, either the actuating member or the sensors being secured to the seat for movement therewith and the other being stationary. If the seat carries a lightweight person, the spring suspension permits it to descend to a position where the actuating member and the upper sensor co-operate to activate the servo-motor to displace the suspension for lowering the seat still further, whereas in the case of a heavy person the actuating member and the lower sensor are effective to raise the seat.

  • Patent number: 4097088
Abstract: In a seat particularly suitable for automobiles and comprising a backrest and seating member, an armrest assembly at the side of the seat comprises an armrest hinged to a supporting lever therefor. The supporting lever is pivotably mounted for movement between a first position where it and the armrest extend alongside the seating member and a second position where it and the armrest extend alongside the backrest. The supporting lever can be propped in an intermediate position at which the armrest is supported in a position of use at a suitable elevation above the seating member.
