  • Patent number: 7966935
Abstract: A method for registering a rotary press for a printing process, in which “n” inking systems (Fn) each produce monochrome printed images and print one on top of the other thereby producing n-colored printed images, includes producing the images of a printed material with at least one sensor station, recording information on rotary movements of printing plate cylinders (Dn), and using the images and the information to produce correction signals which actuate the cylinders until a deviation of the images of the respective inking systems from a desired position on the material lies within a defined range of tolerance values. During the registering method, one printing plate cylinder at a time is in the printing position, the sensor station produces the printed images, and the correction signals are obtained based on the image produced by the respective cylinder and the information on the rotary movements of at least one cylinder.

  • Patent number: 7900559
Abstract: A mandrel-locking unit for a rotary printing machine has a mandrel-mounting element that surrounds print roller mandrels in an inner bearing for mounting a mandrel-supporting surface and into which the mandrel-mounting element can be slid such that the mandrel-supporting surface is released by the sliding movement. The unit has a pressurizing medium cylinder that provides the force required for the sliding movement and a piston, which delimits a pressure chamber of the pressurizing medium cylinder at a boundary surface and which is in contact with the mandrel-mounting element at a connecting point and conveys to the mandrel mounting element the pressure required for the sliding movement. A feature of the unit is that the distance between the boundary surface and the connecting point is smaller than the maximum stroke of the piston in the pressurizing medium cylinder.

  • Patent number: 7751923
Abstract: A process for the automatic control of the thickness of extruded film lowers the deviations in the thickness of the film more quickly after the start of the extrusion process. The process includes the measurement of the thickness profile of the film just extruded by means of a thickness-measuring probe. The thickness-measuring probe is moved along the surface of the film substantially perpendicular to the conveying direction of the extruded film. The thickness-measuring probe records a thickness profile of the film for each measuring cycle at least over parts of the expansion of the film perpendicular to its conveying direction. While providing statistical values in relation to older measured values, the latest measured values during a predetermined time-frame at the start of the extrusion process are more heavily weighted by a computer than those measured during the normal operation.
