Abstract: A columbarium system that facilitates simplified and less expensive manufacture and assembly. The new columbarium system includes glass or stone fronts for the niches that can be readily personalized and more readily replaced. The columbarium system includes a set of interlocking panels for creating the box or niche network by providing the walls, floors, and ceilings of the niches (or boxes). A set of extrusions or structural members are included in the system to enhance the structural integrity (e.g., vertical and horizontal stability and strength) of the assembled plates and also to receive and retain a plurality of fronts or shutters in the columbarium system. A U-shaped gasket or sealing member, which may be formed of silicone or other resilient and weather resistant material, is provided that extends about the perimeter of each front to protect each niche or box from the elements.
