  • Patent number: 9979199
Abstract: A multiple input single output (MISO) hybrid power system includes an electronics system that maximizes output from multiple input sources of different types. In certain embodiments, the electronics system takes in variable power from a plurality of the input sources and outputs a precisely controlled voltage that may simultaneously power a load and charge batteries. The electronics system includes an intelligent controller that monitors input from the power sources and desired output of the system substantially constantly to control maximum power output from each power source. The controller runs through a decision making algorithm to obtain maximum power from the power sources and output a single constant load.

  • Patent number: 9482204
Abstract: One embodiment of a rotor blade for a vertical axis wind turbine comprises a central portion having a central axis and at least two blade members. The blade members each have a proximal end attached to the central portion, a high drag side and a low drag side that is opposite the high drag side. Each of the blade members also includes an uncovered vent comprising an opening through the blade member that provides an unobstructed path for airflow through the blade member. In one embodiment, a pair of fins are positioned adjacent the opening of the vent and extend from the high drag side of the blade member.
