  • Patent number: 8007425
Abstract: A suction roller for transporting flat material blanks has a roller axis and a mantle surface. The suction roller is independent of format and therefore can be universally used for transporting flat material blanks, particularly label blanks. The suction roller has controllable suction holes or suction zones that lie at the closest possible distance from one another on its mantle surface. To this end, the suction roller has a plurality of suction slits, which run parallel to the roller axis and open into the mantle surface, whereby at least adjacent suction slits can have suction air applied to them independent of one another, and whereby a slit cover provided with passage holes is disposed on the mantle surface, in such a manner that the passage holes align with the suction slits, at least in part.

  • Patent number: 7647698
Abstract: A method for producing a cutting or embossing roller having a cutting knife or embossing projection that projects out of the surface of a base body of the roller ensures the greatest possible optimal homogeneity of the cutting knife or the embossing projection, while minimizing production duration and costs. Single-layer or multi-layer application of the cutting knife or the embossing projection onto the roller base body occurs by laser resurfacing welding. Each layer is produced using an additional powdered material, which is melted in a melt bath at the weld point. The heat and/or light radiation emitted by the melt bath is detected, at least during application of each layer. Laser power is controlled or regulated as a function of the heat and/or light radiation emitted by the melt bath, so that melt bath temperature remains essentially constant during application of each layer.

  • Patent number: 7559738
Abstract: A device is described for changing pallets in an automatic palletizer that arranges objects on the pallets. The object was to refine such a device in such a way that it not only minimizes the space occupied by the automatic palletizer, but also enables the length of interruptions in the palletizing process to be reduced. To solve this object, it is suggested to provide a transfer vehicle having a first pallet area for receiving a first pallet, and a second pallet area for receiving a second pallet, and a driving arrangement for moving the transfer vehicle between at least a first position and a second position, wherein when the transfer vehicle is in its first position the first pallet region of the transfer vehicle can be loaded with an empty pallet while the objects can be arranged on a pallet in the second pallet area.

  • Publication number: 20090025343
Abstract: An apparatus for assembling folding boxes from flat folding box shells has a gripping unit, movable in at least one direction of motion, for grasping the folding box shells and having a suction gripping device and an assembly unit for assembling the folding box shells, and a bottom flap folding tool which is pivotable relative to the assembly unit being mounted thereon, and by which the bottom flap, trailing in the direction of motion of the gripping unit, of the folding box intermediate product resulting from assembly of the folding box shell and having open bottom flaps may be folded by swiveling the pivotable bottom flap folding tool. The assembly unit includes a support element on which the gripping unit is supported, and an assembly tool which is pivotable relative to the support element mounted thereon for assembling the folding box shell.

  • Patent number: 7367444
Abstract: A device for optionally or selectively drawing in a cutout from a stack of several cutouts, or taking over a cutout from a separating cutting device, which separates the cutout from a material web, includes a vacuum guide roller in which the cutout coming from the stack or the cutout that has been taken over can be passed to a subsequent work station for processing of the cutout in a work cycle, at a cycle speed. This device reduces both production costs and machine maintenance costs, reduces the amount of space required for the machine and generates less noise. The vacuum guide roller is configured as a segment roller in which optionally or selectively the cutout can be drawn in from the stack and accelerated to the cycle speed, or the cutout taken over from the separating cutting device can be accelerated to the cycle speed.

  • Publication number: 20070251364
Abstract: A device for the cutting out of flat material blanks from flat material sheets is described, which has a cutting roller and a counter roller working together with it, that form a roller gap into which the flat material sheets can be inserted for the cutting out of flat material blanks, whereby a residual material is produced. This device should be further configured in such a way that on the one hand it is connected with the least possible device expenditure, and on the other hand is not limited in its application to flat material sheets with a specified minimum length.

  • Publication number: 20040180771
Abstract: A method and a device for producing envelopes that are imprinted on the inside and/or on the outside, at least in part, and other similar items, including shipping bags of all types. According to the method, an envelope or other item that is imprinted on the inside and/or on the outside, at least in part, is produced by using at least one print unit to imprint a material web and then passing the imprinted web to other stations of an envelope machine, up to the complete production of the envelope.

  • Publication number: 20030019343
Abstract: The application relates to a device for quickly and precisely aligning and fixing foil blades on the body part of a blade roll. The rotary blade roll has a rotating shaft, at least one roll body part arranged with torsional strength on the rotating shaft, at least one foil blade supported by the roll body part, and a row of holding and positioning pins in the roll body part. Magnetic elements arranged in rows retain the foil blade flatly on the peripheral surface of the roll body part. The foil blade has a thin flexible magnetically permeable base plate and at least one sharp one-piece cutting edge of a predetermined cutting shape projecting from the base plate. The base plate has a leading edge, a trailing edge, two side edges opposing each other, and, in a front zone adjoining the leading edge, a plurality of slots aligned with the cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 6497009
Abstract: In an apparatus and a process for preparing a flock-air mixture which is fed by a pulping device through a feed conduit to a flock-laying device for forming an absorbent pad, the feed conduit includes a dispersing device for loosening up lumps of flock within the mixture. To achieve a high level of efficiency in loosening the flock lumps, as independently as possible of the through-put of the mixture through the feed conduit, the dispersing device is in the form of a pneumatic dispersing device which loosens up the lumps by accelerating the mixture with lumps therein to cause the lumps to burst or tear apart.

  • Publication number: 20010044364
Abstract: In the manufacture of letter envelopes from a web of material, the web is first imprinted normally and only then divided into so-called cuts or letter envelope blanks cut to size with the help of a rotating punch. In this process, the printed image has to positioned in the correct location within the blank cut to size. In order to accomplish this positioning, a few sample blanks are produced and measured first in a test run of the machine. The deviation of the actual position of the printed image from the target (or nominal) position is determined and a corrective value is accordingly input in the control electronics of the machine drive by the machine operator.
