Publication number: 20250083885Abstract: A container including a tray and a lidding film is provided. The lidding film is removably coupled to the tray and includes a breakable layer, a lidding layer coupled to the breakable layer, and a PSA layer. A reseal portion of the breakable layer is sealed to a flange of the tray. The PSA layer is arranged between the lidding layer and the breakable layer. The PSA layer includes a reseal portion to adhere to the reseal portion of the breakable layer. The reseal portion of the breakable layer separates from an inner portion when the container is initially opened such that the reseal portion of the breakable layer remains sealed to the flange and the inner portion of the breakable layer remains coupled to the lidding layer. The container is resealed by adhering the reseal portion of the PSA layer to the reseal portion of the breakable layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2023Publication date: March 13, 2025Applicant: Winpak Ltd.Inventors: Eduard Boja, Christopher Dartiailh, Mustafa Bilgen, James Imburgia, Bradley Ranville

Publication number: 20250074037Abstract: An oriented film having a combination of polyolefin and polyamide layers. The film is low shrink and can be monoaxially or biaxially oriented. The polyolefin layer is positioned between two polyamide layers. A tie resin layer may be included between the polyolefin layer and either or both of the polyamide layers. A barrier layer, such as one formed from ethylene vinyl alcohol, may be positioned inside of the polyamide layers. The polyolefin layer may additionally incorporate a polyamide. The overall composition of the oriented film is selected so that the polyamide content is minimized enough that the film may be recycled in current polyethylene recycling streams.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2023Publication date: March 6, 2025Applicant: Winpak Ltd.Inventors: Mustafa Bilgen, Olivier Yves Muggli

Publication number: 20250066091Abstract: The present disclosure provides semirigid pouch designs and methods of manufacturing pouches. Such pouches can be made of plastic or non-plastic materials and may be easily sorted and recycled within existing rigid packaging recycling streams. The pouches are semirigid, while flexible, and will substantially retain their shape during and following product dispensing. This is accomplished by sealing a lower edge of a wall of semirigid plastic or non-plastic materials to a rigid or semirigid base, enabling the pouch to stand up on the base. Portions of an upper edge of the wall are affixed together to form a space to hold the foodstuffs. Further, the present pouch design does not require an additional label to be applied by the manufacturer, as the present design provides a large, uninterrupted, surface area for printing of advertisements and/or labels directly to the outer surface of the pouch.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2023Publication date: February 27, 2025Applicant: Winpak Ltd.Inventors: Manuel Jose Moreno Brociner, Mustafa Bilgen, Olivier Yves Muggli, Ashley Robert Andrews

Publication number: 20250042636Abstract: A spill-resistant spout and method of injection molding a spill-resistant spout. The spill-resistant spout includes a conduit portion having an exit aperture in fluid communication with a central channel; and a seal portion having a bottom surface, the seal portion secured to the conduit portion and in fluid communication with the central channel, the bottom surface comprising at least two intake apertures configured to receive foodstuffs from a container. The use of multiple intake apertures increases the surface tension on the foodstuffs attempting to pass through the intake apertures while maintaining or increasing the total flow volume of foodstuffs through the spill-resistant spout. Additionally, the barrier qualities of the spill-resistant spout can be enhanced by providing one or more discrete layers of thermoplastic material and one or more layers of barrier material within at least one portion of the spill-resistant spout.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2024Publication date: February 6, 2025Applicant: Winpak Ltd.Inventors: Manuel Jose Moreno Brociner, Mustafa Bilgen, Olivier Yves Muggli, Ashley Robert Andrews
