Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable medium for detecting an interferer in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes receiving a signal having P tones, each of the P tones being associated with a frequency, determining a first signal quality of each of the P tones, determining a second signal quality of each of the P tones, and detecting the interferer that occupies the same frequency as one of the P tones based on the respective first signal quality and the respective second signal quality. The first signal quality and second signal quality behave differently when the interferer is present. The detecting the interferer includes determining a discrepancy in the behavior of the first signal quality and the second signal quality.

  • Publication number: 20080298463
Abstract: A system, method and computer-readable medium for reducing the required throughput in an ultra-wideband system is provided. A temporal sub-sampling routine limits the number of frames, or portions thereof, to be transmitted to a sink over an RF link. The temporal sub-sampling routine may have a fixed, or static, sub-sampling rate that specifies the rate at which frames are discarded. In accordance with another embodiment, an automatic temporal sub-sampling mechanism is provided. Additionally, a tile copying mechanism may be implemented for reducing the throughput of the RF link. A WDV subsystem may include an interface to an external frame buffer that facilitates the temporal sub-sampling and tile copy routines disclosed herein.

  • Publication number: 20080273614
Abstract: A system, method and computer-readable medium for encoding and decoding digital information over a channel is provided. Type Mapping is employed and is based on the partitioning of vectors over an alphabet into “types” and using enumeration for the encoding and decoding process. Type mapping allows for signal alphabets of arbitrary size and date rate flexible coding. Tradeoffs between optimal rate versus Signal to Noise Ratio are provided and works as a compliment to the Forward Error Control that may be employed in communications products.

  • Publication number: 20080232588
Abstract: A system includes a line-based receiver for receiving protected content from a source and a line-based transmitter for providing the protected content to a destination. The protected content is secure, such as by using a High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) mechanism. Between the line-based transmitter and receiver is a wireless transmitter and a wireless receiver. The wireless transmitter establishes an encrypted wireless link with the wireless receiver according to a second encryption mechanism. The wireless transmitter is further configured for receiving the protected content from the line-based receiver, encrypting the protected content according to the second encryption mechanism, and wirelessly transmitting the encrypted protected content. The wireless receiver is further configured for receiving the wirelessly transmitted protected content from the wireless transmitter and decrypting the protected content according to the second encryption mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20080137737
Abstract: A method for line-based video rate control is provided. The line based video rate control method includes system feedback to change system operating parameters, including on a packet-by-packet basis and also on a line-by-line basis. Also provided is a method for line-based compression. The method includes basic elements of an arithmetic coder to improve Golomb coding performance. By inverting operations in the method for line-based compression, the corresponding decoder can be obtained. The method also provides a heuristic-driven method for generating prediction residuals from quantized data, wherein prediction is driven in the direction of maximum correlation so that it is unnecessary to supply the decoder with additional data specifying this direction at each array element.

  • Publication number: 20070291636
Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium for detection and avoidance of victim services in ultra-wideband systems is provided. A detect and avoid module may calculate power averages of OFDM tones. The power of tones may then be measured and compared with power averages of corresponding tones. If a measured tone power exceeds an average power of a corresponding tone by a dynamic threshold, the tone may be identified as associated with an interferer. The threshold may be inversely related to the gain level of an automatic gain control module. The ultra-wideband subsystem may be configured with known bands of victim services of other RF systems, and a tone identified as associated with an interferer that is within a known victim service band may be identified as a victim service. The UWB subsystem may attenuate or otherwise suppress transmission within the victim service band to avoid interfering with the victim service.
