Patent number: 7788775Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing weft threads from an edge of a fabric is described and which includes a bed for supporting a fabric which is manufactured from both warp and weft threads, and which has a forward edge, and an opposite lateral edge; a selectively rotatable draw-off device mounted adjacent to one of the lateral edges and which forcibly engages a first end of a weft thread which is to be removed; and a plurality of wedge assemblies are mounted on the bed, and which are selectively moveable to the forward edge of the fabric, and which facilitate the separation of the weft thread which has been engaged from the forward edge of the fabric.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2007Date of Patent: September 7, 2010Assignee: WIS Seaming Equipment, Inc.Inventors: Chester F. Kutzleb, Roy W. Thompson, Gary P. Wells

Patent number: 6336477Abstract: In a weaving device, a weaving device frame mounts a plurality of eyelets. A frame module, releasably borne by the weaving device frame is readily detachable from and controls movement of the respective eyelets. The frame module forms a readily removable component of the weaving device.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1999Date of Patent: January 8, 2002Assignee: WIS SeamingInventors: Chester F. Kutzleb, Roger King, Anders Bostrom, Robert Kellogg

Patent number: 6318415Abstract: A weaving device is described, having a frame, an eyelet and a module releasably borne by the frame to selectively transmit a motive force to the eyelet. A coupling includes first and second members which are releasably coupled together in force receiving relation and relative to the module. The first member is connected to the eyelet, and the second member is connected to the module. The coupling transmits motive force from the module to the eyelet to move the eyelet selectively relative to the frame. The coupling facilitates removal and replacement of the module from the frame.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1999Date of Patent: November 20, 2001Assignee: WIS Seaming Equipment Inc.Inventors: Chester F. Kutzleb, Roger King, Anders Bostrom, Robert Kellogg

Patent number: 6216748Abstract: A weaving device is described which includes a frame and an eyelet movably mounted thereto. A solenoid is also mounted to the frame and produces a magnetic field when energized. A latch is mounted on the frame for movement thereon to affect movement of the eyelet. A contact member is rotatably mounted to the latch and is magnetically attracted to the solenoid when energized.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1999Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Assignee: WIS Seaming Equipment, Inc.Inventors: Chester F. Kutzleb, Roger King, Anders Bostrom, Robert Kellogg

Patent number: 6116293Abstract: An apparatus for forming sheds for a jacquard machine by a hook (7), which is movably guided between a high position and a low position. A lift (9) for the hook (7) can be selectively coupled with a driver stop (11) of the lift via a control element (14) that is mounted in the frame and that is adjustable transverse to a path of movement for the hook (7) by way of a control (30). The driver stop (11) of the lift (9) can be swivelled from a stop-limited drive position into a rest position outside the path of movement of counter-stop (13) for the hook (7). The control element (14) has cam tracks 21, 22 which swivel the driver stop (11) on the lift, and a holding stop (18) for the hook (7) in the high position.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1999Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Assignee: WIS Seaming Equipment, Inc.Inventor: Johann Stimpl

Patent number: 6016851Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing warp thread ends as auxiliary weft in a seam weaving device is disclosed and where the warp thread ends are connected to an adhesive seam and a weft thread bundle is formed in the warp thread ends. An auxiliary shed is then formed in the weft thread bundle for successively releasing the warp thread ends from the weft thread bundle. After being released from the weft thread bundle, each successive warp thread end is separated from the warp thread ends which are retained by the weft thread bundle and then cut from the adhesive seam. This allows the warp thread end to then be withdrawn from the auxiliary shed to be provided as an auxiliary weft in a seam.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1998Date of Patent: January 25, 2000Assignee: WIS Seaming Equipment, Inc.Inventor: Christian Preuner

Patent number: 5930878Abstract: There is described a device for coupling a thread, in particular a weaving thread, to a tentering means comprising a clamping sleeve (1) and a clamping body (2) axially movable inside the clamping sleeve (1), which clamping body can be connected to a tentering means at its one end axially protruding beyond the clamping sleeve (1), and in the vicinity of its other end forms a clamping member for the thread end (7). To create advantageous constructional conditions it is proposed that on the side opposite the connection side of the tentering means the clamping sleeve (1) forms an end-face inlet opening (6) for the thread, and has a clamping portion (5) widening towards this inlet opening (6), between which clamping portion and the clamping member of the clamping body (2) drawn into the clamping sleeve (1) and designed as clamping head (4) there can be clamped the thread end (7) introduced into the clamping sleeve (1).Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1998Date of Patent: August 3, 1999Assignee: WIS Seaming Equipment, Inc.Inventor: Franz Berger
