Abstract: It has surprisingly now been discovered that alkoxy-magnesium halides of the general formula ROMgX wherein R is an alkyl having from about 1 to 18 carbon atoms and X is a halide can be synthesized in an inert hydrocarbon in just one step process by reacting magnesium which has been preliminarily activated with small quantities (approximately 5 mol %) of magnesium alkyl with a substantially equimolar mixture of an alkyl halide and an alkanol. That is, the present invention provides a one step reaction process for preparing alkoxy-magnesium halides. This one step reaction process involves reacting magnesium metal which has been previously activated with a magnesium-alkyl compound, with an equimolar mixture of an alkyl halide and an alkanol. Yields in excess of 90% can be obtained by employing the inventive one step reaction process.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of aluminoxanes by addition of water to a solution of trialkylaluminum in an inert solvent, characterized in that the water required for the reaction is metered via a mixing nozzle into a static mixer, in particular a jet loop reactor.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of thiadiazoles of the type ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 =hydrogen, alkyl groups having 1-4 carbon atomssubstituted alkyl groups having 1-4 carbon atoms which are substituted by halogen, carboxyl, hydroxyl or nitro group,an alkoxyCN, halogen, NO.sub.2 orCOOR in which R=H or alkyl groups 1-4 carbon atoms, and the use of synergistic combinations of thiadiazoles with other biocidal substances as biocides for material protection. The compounds according to-the invention, which are distinguished by a broad, biocidal action spectrum, can be used in particular for wood preservation for preventing the destruction of wood by fungi or bacteria, for the biocidal treatment of plastics and as preservatives or disinfectants. The recommended concentrations for use are 0.01 to 15 percent by weight-preferably 0.1-3.0 percent by weight.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of preparing hexaalkyl distannanes by converting bis-[trialkyltin]oxide with a stabilized solution of sodium borohydride in alcohol, preferably methanol, in the presence of an inert solvent.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of preparing trialkyl-tin hydrides by a process that ensures outstanding long-term stability.Bis-[trialkyl-tin]oxides are dissolved in a solvent that mixes only to some extent, if at all, with water and converted with an aqueous solution of sodium borohydride stabilized with a base. The product is obtained by phase separation and optionally by distillation. The trialkyl-tin hydride is obtained almost quantitatively with a yield of more than 95%.
