  • Patent number: 8782821
Abstract: Protective eyewear including a base, a floating protective wireframe (or lenses), an ear piece and a nose piece. The base can be substantially oval in shape, such that the base can surround the eyes of a user wearing the protective eyewear apparatus. The protective cage connects to the frame by snap fit or other means, and is otherwise spaced from and free-floating relative to the frame. This results in eyewear that is more comfortable to wear on a continuous basis and more reliable protection, at least meeting ASTM F 803-03 impact requirements.

  • Patent number: 8727915
Abstract: A lacrosse stick for reducing the rebound of a ball caught therein. The head of the lacrosse stick is affixed to a tubular shaft in which a portion of the shaft wall at the top end is omitted on the front side and another portion is omitted on the backside below the first omitted portion. A resilient member is inserted within the shaft extending past the lower omitted portion of the shaft wall. The resilient member fills the omitted areas to seat flush therein. A head having a socket and throat is affixed to top end of the shaft. The socket engages the resilient insert via the omitted portions. When a force is applied, for example, by a ball caught in the pocket, the socket compresses the resilient member from the front and the throat from the back allowing the head to rotate backward, dissipating some of the energy and reducing rebound.

  • Patent number: 8182376
Abstract: A weighting system for a sports stick, particularly a field hockey stick, comprising a surface, recess, channel, hole or plurality of pockets formed along the length of the sports stick, and one or more weights moveably or selectively attachable along the surface and/or within the channel/pockets to allow a player to freely adjust the weight and balance point of the stick by slideably moving to or selectively adding or eliminating weight and points along the stick. A variety of embodiments are herein described, all providing an adjustable field hockey stick that allows players to adapt to play on different surfaces or in different conditions.

  • Patent number: 8181275
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention provides a lacrosse glove having a rigid protective element extending over and secured to the padding disposed on the back side of the thumb receiving portion of the glove. The protective element comprises a protective thumb portion that extends from proximate to a tip of the thumb receiving portion to a base region of the thumb receiving portion, and a protective transverse portion that extends in a direction generally perpendicular to the protective thumb portion from the base region of the thumb receiving portion toward a center portion of the glove.

  • Patent number: 8177663
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a golf putter and method of adjustment of the golf putter are provided. The golf putter includes two threaded connections, one between a weighting element and a putter head, and one between a screw fastener and a replaceable striking surface attachment. The weighting element may be attached to the putter head by manual manipulation. The striking surface attachment may be attached to the putter head by a magnetic connection or any other attachment means suitable for easy replacement during a practice or experimentation mode, and is further configured to be attached to a screw fastener using a tool such that the golf putter is in compliance with rules. The screw fastener passes through the weighting element so that it locks the weighting element simultaneously when affixing the striking surface attachment, thus rendering the weighting element non-removable without the use of a tool.

  • Patent number: 7618336
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a sports equipment handle, such as a lacrosse stick handle, that includes a hollow tubular lacrosse stick shaft defining a slot substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shaft, and a rib disposed in the slot. The shaft and the rib comprise separate structures. In a cross-section of the shaft taken substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal shaft axis, the slot has an opening smaller than a width of the rib such that the rib is retained within the slot. The rib is moveable within and removable from the slot. The rib can be specially located and structured to provide the shaft with structural and tactile features that correspond to and accommodate the way in which a player moves his hands along the shaft and grips the shaft, to enhance the player's control of the shaft when performing various skills.
