  • Patent number: 4542705
Abstract: An apparatus for producing parallel-walled grooves in green areas and lawns. Slits which form the walls of the groove are produced by means of tools which are arranged at the periphery of a drum, or alternatively, on a rolling wheel body. Each tool comprises a pair of knives which produce the parallel slits or cuts. A cutting edge is provided, which extends between the knives and produces a transverse cut in the region of the groove. The cutting edge can simultaneously serve to eject the earth. Alternatively a clearance tyne, which also serves to lift the earth, can be arranged behind the knives in the direction of running. In accordance with a further embodiment, spring loaded runners are provided which are fixed to the frame of the apparatus and are located between knife carrying discs, i.e. between the grooves that are formed, or in the grooves that are formed, i.e. between the two knife carrying discs of a pair of knife carrying discs.

  • Patent number: 4531347
Abstract: In a lawn mower for wheel drive, two switch yokes 16 and 18, pivoted swingably below the handlebar 10, are provided as switch members for the turning on and disconnecting of the motor and the engagement and disengagement of the clutch respectively. The clutch switch yoke 18 is, in this connection, developed as an entrainment lever which holds the motor switch yoke 16 in engaged position after said yoke has been released. A safety button must be depressed before the swinging of the motor switch yoke 16. It is not possible to turn the motor on by means of the clutch switch yoke.

  • Patent number: 4336845
Abstract: A combination garden tool is disclosed. A first tool, which has a handle, and a second tool, which is secured to a coupling mechanism, are provided and are detachably coupled to each other in such a manner that both tools can be operated simultaneously. If desired, however, the second tool can be used alone while attached to the first tool. Preferably, the detachable coupling device includes a clamping bolt movable by means of eccentric supporting projections between a first and a second position to clamp the first tool is mounted to the body of the coupling device. The coupling device is preferably permanently secured to the second tool.

  • Patent number: 4220344
Abstract: A wheel for a lawn mower, or the like, is positioned on an axle. The axle has a detent groove formed in it. A chassis for the axle has two spaced apart walls with aligned sets of holes into which sets of holes the axle may be selectively inserted to adjust wheel height. A detent spring formed at one of the walls resiliently self-biases to engage in the detent groove in the axle to hold the axle in place. A cutout in that wall holds the detent spring and enables it to resiliently self-bias into the groove in the axle.

  • Patent number: 4148362
Abstract: A lawn perforating machine for forming rows of holes in the ground comprises a perforating roller which is adapted to roll on the ground and whose peripheral surface carries perforating tubes mounted for pivotal movement about axes extending parallel to the axis of the roller so that from the beginning to the end of their contact with the ground their axes remain substantially perpendicular to the ground. Part of the periphery of the roller is enclosed by a guide plate to intercept plugs of earth formed by the perforating tubes. In one embodiment a spring comb is disposed behind the roller to produce clean holes even in wet ground.
