Abstract: Cellulose ether compositions based on rapidly dissolving, pulverulent, water soluble cellulose ethers contain swellable and suction active superabsorbents to prevent the formation of lumps when dissolved. The cellulose ether composition can be converted into compression moulded pieces which retain the rapid solubility and dissolve without forming lumps.
Abstract: The composite film contains individual layers of polyvinyl alcohol, a polyolefin, an ethylene/vinyl alcohol and a polyolefin in that order and is comparable in its barrier properties to water vapor and gas with composite films containing metal layers without having any of their disadvantages.
Abstract: An improved heat-laminatable, high-glass and high-slip, at least monoaxially stretched multilayer film comprises at least one base layer I consisting essentially of polypropylene, an outer layer II which is thin by comparison with layer I and which consists essentially of polypropylene and an addition of an anti-blocking additive and a heat-activatable, heat-laminatable layer III containing an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer A and an ethylene/ethyl acrylate copolymer B1 and/or an ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer B2, the base layer I containing no anti-blocking additives.
Abstract: Multilayered films with a special sealing layer which is applied only to one side have improved properties, in particular improved transparency.
Abstract: Improved .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated polyesters for paint applications are based on an unsaturated polycarboxylic acid, a polyalkylene glycol having an average molecular weight of 300 to 1,000 and an alkoxylated triol containing no unsaturated groups.
Abstract: Improved nitrocellulose mixtures contain a polyol as the desensitizing agent, the polyol being a solvent for nitrocellulose, soluble in water to a maximum of 10% at 20.degree. C. and non-volatile.

Abstract: Hydrocolloid mixtures having improved dispersibility in water from an uncross-linked and a cross-linked hydrocolloid are prepared by subjecting at least one of the hydrocolloids to the action of at least one swelling agent or solvent for the hydrocolloid in a mixing apparatus before dispersion and vigorously mixing it therewith.
Abstract: Improved water soluble carboxymethylsulphoethyl celluloses may be obtained by suspending cellulose, adding compounds which transfer sulphoalkyl and carboxymethyl and then etherifying after alkalization.

Abstract: Process for the preparation of aqueous solutions of hydrolysed styrene/acrylonitrile copolymers, the carboxyl groups of which are entirely or partly present as NH.sub.4 and/or alkali metal salt, characterized in that(a) 40-90% by weight of acrylonitrile,(b) 10-60% by weight of styrene and0-20% by weight of further monomer which can be hydrolysed by alkaliare subjected to suspension or emulsion polymerization, the aqueous dispersion or emulsion is subsequently hydrolysed at 90.degree.-220.degree. C. in the presence of alkali metals and/or alkaline earth metals, and, if appropriate, the copolymer solution is treated with hydrogen peroxide wherein a part of the styrene may be replaced by a further monomer which cannot be hydrolysed by alkali.

Abstract: Process for combating pests and weeds in soil, by covering the soils with films and gassing them with biologically active compounds, especially methyl bromide, wherein the soil covering film, comprises a gas-tight upper film and a gas-permeable lower film joined to the upper film at its edges, which serves at the same time as a gas container from which the gas diffuses through the lower film into the soils to be treated.
Abstract: Process for the purification of products of regenerated cellulose in which the regenerated cellulose product is passed through at least one washing segment where it is initially squeezed out with the aid of a squeezing element and then washed out with the washing water, passed in counter current, while simultaneously being deflected over deflection elements.
