  • Patent number: 7096901
Abstract: Manually operated apparatus for splitting wood includes at least one axe-shaped blade vertically arranged on a support base. The at least one axe-shaped blade has an upward facing cutting edge. The axe-shaped blade is structured and arranged to receive thereon a lower end of a piece of wood so that the piece of wood can be split by a hammer blow directed to an upper end of the piece of wood. A saddle member is coupled to the support base. The saddle member is structured and arranged to allow the piece of wood to lean against the saddle member and to hold the piece of wood upright at the moment when the piece of wood receives the hammer blow. This Abstract is not intended to define the invention disclosed in the specification, nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

  • Patent number: 7055848
Abstract: A foldable trailer that is attachable to a vehicle, particularly an ATV, for hauling a load. The trailer includes a hitch assembly for attachment to the vehicle, a first bed rotatably attached to the hitch assembly, and a second bed rotatably attached to the first bed by a unique hinge. The trailer may be tightly folded to, and carried by, the ATV so that the trailer can be brought through otherwise inaccessible terrain. Moreover, when in the folded position, a rear rail of the trailer may be opened to carry articles. When the trailer is deployed, the first bed is coplanar with the second bed to provide an enlarged area for holding articles. The hinge, joining the first bed to the second bed, allows the trailer to support a significant load.

  • Patent number: 6833087
Abstract: Compositions and methods are disclosed for preventing the oxidative corrosion of metal surfaces by exposing a metal surface to an anti-corrosion agent characterized as 2,4-trans, trans-hexadienoic acid (2,4-HDA), its alkali salt identified as potassium sorbate (KHDA), or other derivatives that conserve or embody the 2,4-trans, trans-hexadiene-type moiety present in their molecular structures as an active anti-corrosion agent (ACA), in combination with a material capable of forming a moisture retentive barrier over the metal surface. The compositions and methods of the invention provide a practical, non-toxic way of ensuring anti-corrosion protection for metals, or devices containing exposed metals, stored or operated in water or in the presence of water vapor.

  • Patent number: 6360275
Abstract: A transmission system and a receiver system enable an internet experience with enhanced content regulation and simplicity. The transmission system comprises a buffer memory storing data-to-be-transmitted which contains channel information. The transmission system further comprises a transmitter for transmitting the stored data based on the channel information, and a repeater coupled to the buffer memory and to the transmitter for repeatedly sending the stored data from the buffer memory to the transmitter. The receiver system comprises a receiver for receiving data packets being transmitted on the multiple channels, a device coupled to the receiver for extracting a data packet from the received data packets based on a comparison of the received data packets and desired packet identification information. The receiver system further comprises a browser coupled to the device for enabling presentation of an extracted data packet, and for enabling selection of an option.

  • Patent number: 6293290
Abstract: A vehicle wash system is shown and described which is particularly suitable for use in in-bay washing devices, i.e., tunnels or supporting frameworks wherein vehicles are parked and washed while they are stationary. Chemical lines supply chemicals (such as detergents, waxes, etc.) to water lines, and the chemicals and water are mixed in downstream mixing modules. The mixing modules are preferably provided in the form of vessels having enlarged flow areas, and may contain baffles or other turbulence generators therein. The chemical/water mixtures leave the mixing modules in post-mix lines to which gas supply lines may be connected for the purpose of generating foam, which is then delivered in the wash bay from a downstream delivery system. The downstream foam pressure has little or no effect on upstream mixing of chemicals and water, and thus foam having highly uniform properties is generated.

  • Patent number: 6090057
Abstract: A multi-axial external joint used in orthoses construction to provide support and/or limit movement of various joints of the body. In combination as a complete orthosis, a foundation is provided including a girdle section and a separate thigh cuff. A first orthotic joint member is mounted to the girdle section, and a second orthotic joint member is mounted to the thigh cuff. A bearing joins the first and second orthotic joint members for pivotal movement in three dimensions about multiple intersecting axes to support articulation of a human leg about an associated hip joint including flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, and rotation of the leg. A stop assembly on at least one of the orthotic joint members enables adjustment to limit relative pivotal movement of the orthotic joint members about the pivot point.

  • Patent number: 5911377
Abstract: A device for preventing entanglement of fishing-thread on a fishing reel includes a holder, and a line-roller having a retainer attached to an end thereof. The line-roller is provided within the holder. The line-roller is rotatable relative to the holder. A line-collar is concentrically disposed relative to the line-roller and surrounds the line-roller. The line-collar is axially movable to a position in which the line-roller and the line-collar form a space therebetween. A spring is concentrically provided between the line-roller and the line-collar. The spring has one end abutting against the retainer, and another end urging the line-collar out of the position, so that the fishing-thread is retainable in the space and between the line-roller and the line-collar.

  • Patent number: 5867936
Abstract: The tree guy includes a loop of resilient tubular synthetic polymer composition material which engages around the tree trunk. Separate tension members engage in the two ends of the loop and extend from loop end closures into tubular legs which extend toward the ground at which they are anchored. The legs preferably have compression springs therein and tension members connect the compression springs with the loop so that when the legs are anchored, springs are deflected to provide support to the tree. In a similar tree tie tension members can be attached to a support post while the loop engages around the tree. The loop contains separate compression springs.
