Publication number: 20220324134Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the division of an individual input source log into discrete longitudinal lengths for subsequent processing. The process comprises receiving an individual input source log, dividing the input source log into one or a plurality of output log portions of a predetermined length, wherein at least a portion of said output log portions resultant from said division are of a substantially equal or substantially constant or consistent longitudinal length, and wherein said substantially equal or substantially constant or consistent longitudinal length output log portions are procured as a feed stream of log material for a subsequent processing step. This process provides for the processing of logs and subsequent assembly into an end product formed from a composite of sticks derived from said processed logs.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2020Publication date: October 13, 2022Applicant: WOOD ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY LIMITEDInventor: Warwick BOSSON

Patent number: 11325276Abstract: A method of drying sticks, a related apparatus, resultant product and its uses where the method involves presenting a plurality of sticks in parallel as a single layer, pressing each stick with a bank of pressing members on and/or into at least one face of the sticks, each with plurality of protuberances, thereby to constrain the sticks against crook, and drying the sticks when so constrained. Preferably each bank of pressing members is an underside of a frame or lattice of a stack of such frames or lattices able to receive such a single layer of sticks between adjacent overlying/underlying frames or lattices, the protuberances preferably being only downwardly directed.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2018Date of Patent: May 10, 2022Assignee: Wood Engineering Technology LimitedInventors: Warwick Bosson, Roger Frank Harrison

Patent number: 8420222Abstract: A laminate of laminae of uniform rectangular cross-sections or depths and lengths arranged randomly or otherwise in the laminate, such laminae having been derived from a feedstock comprising a population of logs (single or multigrade) wherein the population of laminae comprises all of the laminae that can be derived from the population of logs (exclusively only of laminae or material for laminae that are not of acceptable rectangular cross-section and/or length), and where each cross-section of each laminae represents a maximum of one thirtieth of the log cross-section, or the thickness of each lamina represents a maximum of one fifteenth of the small end log diameter.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2011Date of Patent: April 16, 2013Assignee: Wood Engineering Technology LimitedInventor: Warwick I Bosson
