Patent number: 6718720Abstract: A flooring system includes a first floor member having a through hole and includes a second floor member having a non-through hole which extends from the bottom side toward the top side of the second floor member. The second floor member is positioned above the first floor member with the non-through hole aligned with the through hole. A radially-expandable fastener (such as a rivet) extends through the through hole and into the non-through hole. A method for installing a flooring system includes obtaining a first floor member having a through hole, obtaining a second floor member, and positioning the second floor member above the first floor member. A non-through hole is created extending from its bottom side toward its top side. A radially-expandable fastener (such as a rivet) is installed in the first and second floor members. Publication number: 20010003623Abstract: A fiber reinforced composite wood flooring is designed particularly for use in van-type truck trailers which experience adverse operating conditions due to heavy lift truck traffic on the top side and water spray during rainy periods on the bottom side. The composite wood flooring comprises edge-glued laminated wood which is underlaid with a thin layer of fiber reinforced plastic. The top surface of the composite wood floor is the same as that of a conventional laminated wood floor. The fiber reinforced plastic underlay is composed of glass and/or carbon fibers embedded in a polymeric resin such as epoxy, phenolic, vinyl ester, polypropylene or polyamide resin. The fiber reinforcement is designed to enhance the mechanical properties of the flooring in the longitudinal and transverse directions of the floor. The fiber reinforced plastic improves the fatigue resistance of the composite wood flooring and prevents water leakage into the trailer through the floor boards.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2000Publication date: June 14, 2001Applicant: Havco Wood Products, Inc.Inventors: Gopalkrishna Padmanabhan, Lokeswarappa R. Patent number: 5836119Abstract: The window sash of this invention employs strips of extruded plastic materials which are connected together by mechanical fasteners into an inner sash. The inner sash has barbed protrusions formed on the interior and the exterior which define interior and exterior channels into which wooden or metal trim members may be engaged in snap-fit relation. In operation, individual trim strips are first combined with interior sash elements. These sub-assemblies are then joined with L-shaped injection molded keys. The trim members, plastic keys, and plastic inner sash are then clamped in a frame and stapled together. The exterior sash trim or ring is assembled separately and brought together for assembly with the inner sash. A mastic adhesive is applied to the inner sash, a thermopane window light assembly is disposed on the adhesive, and a bead of adhesive is applied to the rabbet of the exterior ring which is then press-fit into engagement with the inner sash.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1997Date of Patent: November 17, 1998Assignee: Lincoln Wood Products, Inc.Inventor: Brian A. Patent number: 5617910Abstract: The present invention provides an automatic lug loader to place blocks on each lug on a lug conveyor in a finger jointing machine. The lug loader includes a support structure with a control station and a feed table. A powered loading conveyor overlies the support structure with an infeed end disposed over the control station. The loading conveyor extends downstream to an outfeed end which is disposed over the upstream end of the lug conveyor. A powered adjuster is connected to the loading conveyor and shifts the loading conveyor toward and away from the control station to selectively grip a block. The invention also encompasses an automatic cornering apparatus to transfer blocks from a side-to-side relationship on the lug conveyor to an end-to-end arrangement on a transverse conveyor. The cornering apparatus includes a first conveyor with an upstream end and a downstream end.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1995Date of Patent: April 8, 1997Assignee: Bend Wood Products, Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 5088255Abstract: A glazing system for a wooden door or window employs coextruded vinyl trim strips which have a planar base with flexible compression members and flexible seal tubes and a projecting barb extending from the base. The trim strips engage in kerfs in the window sash and the seal tubes are compressed against the window lights by extruded aluminum trim caps which engage with the trim strip barbs and against the sash. Sashes which have more than one light separated by a wooden muntin are glazed with a vinyl extruded muntin strip which is attached to the muntin so that a flexible seal tube which is a part of the muntin strip base overlies the glass lights on each side of the muntin. An extruded aluminum muntin cap is snap-fit to the muntin strip such that the muntin strip seal tubes are compressed against the window glass. The aluminum muntin cap and trim caps substantially cover and shield the trim strips and muntin strips from exposure to sunlight.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1991Date of Patent: February 18, 1992Assignee: Lincoln Wood Products, Inc.Inventor: Brian A. Patent number: 4955845Abstract: A game calling device is provided which enables the distraction-free simulation of the sounds made by wild game using only one hand to operate. The device includes a support structure having a trough portion and a friction plate positioned within the trough; a call generator comprising the friction plate, a handle block and a striker positioned within the handle block for longitudinal displacement from a beginning position along the friction plate so as to generate a game call; and a spring linking the support structure with the handle block and the striker portion of the call generator to return the striker to a beginning position, thereby completing a cycle of alternating lognitudinal movement. A flexible pouch is provided to enclose the device.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1987Date of Patent: September 11, 1990Assignee: Penn's Woods Products, Inc.Inventor: Frank R. Piper

Patent number: 4927399Abstract: The present invention provides a dual diaphragm-type game caller of a size and shape suitable for inserting into a user's mouth for support against the roof of the mouth so that free edges of two diaphragms retained together as a unit in a spaced-apart relationship can concurrently vibrate when impinged by pulmonary air exhausted by the user. The invention employs two diaphragms having a selected pattern of slits which allow the caller to produce a flutter or raspy sound effect which is sometimes desired by the wild turkey hunter.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1989Date of Patent: May 22, 1990Assignee: Penn's Woods Products, Inc.Inventor: Mark Mueller
