Patent number: 9617745Abstract: A recess former is disclosed for use with anchors which are to be cast into a concrete slab. The recess former preferably includes a removable plug and preferably rectangular lugs which engage with corresponding apertures in the attachment head of the lifting anchor and prevent the ingress of cement during casting of the slab. In addition, flaps are preferably provided on the recess former to prevent the sides of the attachment head from being encased in the concrete. Preferably the former is pivoted between open and closed positions and has a slightly V-shaped base which when abutted against a mould or formwork, urges the recess former into the closed position. Furthermore, a recess former is disclosed which stays behind after the casting and remains embedded in the concrete in order to provide a waterproof membrane between the recess and adjacent reinforcing rods thereby preventing corrosion of the reinforcing rods.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2013Date of Patent: April 11, 2017Assignee: Woodstock Percussion Pty LtdInventor: Rod Mackay Sim

Patent number: 8764084Abstract: A lifting link (101) for anchors embedded in concrete panels is disclosed having a shackle (102) with a recessed cross bridge (151). A part circular latch (114) rotates within a chamber (105) of a hollow toroidal ring (104). The chamber has a circular longitudinal axis (119). The upper portion of the ring is formed into a U-shaped slot (113) through which a handle (115) of the latch (114) rotates. A transverse slot (109) accepts the head of anchor (6). The shackle bears against the exterior surface (103B) of the U-shaped slot (113). The radius of curvature of the exterior surface (103B) has a center which is not coincident with the center of the radius of curvature of the chamber axis (119). The part circular latch (114) extends through more than half a circle. Thus the center of lift (125) of the shackle (102) is worked away from the adjacent surface (10) of the concrete panel, thereby saving the surface (10) from damage during lifting.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 2012Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: Woodstock Percussion Pty Ltd.Inventor: Rod MacKay Sim

Patent number: 8413400Abstract: A recess former (30) is disclosed for use with anchors (35) which are to be cast into a concrete slab (61). The recess former (30) preferably includes a removable plug (36) and preferably rectangular lugs (57) which engage with corresponding apertures in the attachment head (34) of the lifting anchor and prevent the ingress of cement during casting of the slab (61). In addition, flaps (51) are preferably provided on the recess former to prevent the sides of the attachment head (34) from being encased in the concrete. Preferably the former is pivoted between open and closed positions and has a slightly V-shaped base which when abutted against a mold or formwork, urges the recess former into the closed position. Furthermore, a recess former (60-60I) is disclosed which stays behind after the casting and remains embedded in the concrete in order to provide a waterproof membrane between the recess (62) and adjacent reinforcing rods (58, 59, 71) thereby preventing corrosion of the reinforcing rods.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2007Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Woodstock Percussion Pty Ltd.Inventor: Rod Mackay Sim

Publication number: 20080196324Abstract: An elongate substantially planar lifting anchor (61, 161, 261, 361) to be embedded in concrete panels (2) and the like is disclosed. The anchor (61, 161, 261, 361) has a through aperture (63) adjacent one end (65) and the other end (34) is adapted to form a mechanical interlocking anchor with the concrete of the panel (2) in which the other end (34) is embedded, wherein the through aperture (63) is shaped to simultaneously receive both a lifting shackle (28) and a reinforcing member (263). The concrete panel incorporates at least one of the abovementioned elongate substantially planar lifting anchors (61, 161, 261, 361) and a method of lifting a concrete panel (2) in which a lifting anchor has been embedded comprises the steps of: (i) passing the lifting anchor (61, 161, 261, 361) through the aperture (63), and (ii) lifting the shackle (28) to transfer load directly to the reinforcing member (263) and thereby raise the panel (2).Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2007Publication date: August 21, 2008Applicant: Woodstock Percussion Pty LtdInventor: Rod Mackay Sim
