  • Publication number: 20080047660
Abstract: A peel plate assembly for selectively removing RFID tags from a web for applying the RFID tags to a succession of articles includes an extendible or retractable peel blade and an RFID sensor recess mounted within a plate body. A cover for the plate body functions both as a web guide for advancing a succession of RFID tags past the sensor to the peel blade and as part of a shielding system to isolate communications between the sensor and the closest RFID tag to the peel blade.

  • Patent number: 7306837
Abstract: An ovenable package contains an ovenable product and has a display surface mounting a self-adhesive ovenable label, for example, presenting a coupon or other product promotional item. The ovenable label has at least two layers including a promotional layer defining the text and graphics of the promotional item. The promotional layer can be paper covered by a transparent, heat resistant barrier layer, preferably made of polyester, adhered to the ovenable package directly or to a heat resistant base layer which is adhered to the ovenable package. In this case, one or more layers of the label can be perforated to define a lift off section. Or, the promotional layer itself can be the outer heat resistant layer releasably adhered to the base layer. A labeling method of providing the promotional item to a consumer of the ovenable product is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7296826
Abstract: A composite window label construction has a base pressure-sensitive, adhesive-backed label with a window (14) cut out of it and a second layer of reflective material covering the window (14) from the back side of the base layer (16) and adhered to the back side of the base layer around margins of the second layer. In a method of making the label construction, a continuous release liner is stipped from the base material web after the windows are cut in the base material web and individual swatches of the second layer are cut from a continuous roll of the second layer and individually placed over the windows. Subsequently, the same or a different release liner is reattached to the pressure-sensitive adhesive side of the base web and individual labels are cut from the base web.

  • Publication number: 20050184505
Abstract: An in-mold label is formed with multiple panels that significantly increase the printable area of the labels. For example, such multi-panel labels can include a base panel and an overlying panel. A pressure-sensitive adhesive layer temporarily bonds the base and overlying panels and a heat-activated adhesive layer permanently bonds the base layer to a wall of the container. The heat-activated adhesive can be activated by exposure to molten material during the molding process. The adhesive characteristics of the pressure-sensitive adhesive are not adversely affected by transmissions of heat from the molten material through the base panel.

  • Publication number: 20050153091
Abstract: A product labeling system for overwrapping printed articles on products includes a web having product-labeling information being visible at an outer surface of the web. A succession of base substrates is positioned along the continuous length of the web, and a permanent adhesive bonds the base substrates to an inner surface of the web. Printable substrates are mounted on the succession of base substrates and are held in place by a temporary adhesive. Successive lengths of the web are separated into discrete sections and wrapped around products such that the product labeling information remains visible on the outside of the products and the printable substrates are located between the wrapped web sections and the products.
