A throttle means (12, 112) is provided in the outlet line (9) and is adjustable between a first and a second flow cross-section, the first flow cross-section being greater than the second flow cross-section. To simplify such a coffee machine in a constructionally simple way in terms of control, it is suggested that the throttle means (12, 112) should be made adjustable by the action of the brewing pressure.

Abstract: Described is a coffee percolator for dispensing individual charges of freshly brewed coffee, which may also be employed, however, for satisfying a temporarily occurring increased demand. To this purpose the percolator is provided with a second outlet for dispensing the coffee into a storage container. In a preferred embodiment, two separate switching means are provided for actuation by the user for dispensing the coffee directly into a serving receptacle or into the storage container. This permits charges of different size to be preselected, so that a greater amount of coffee can be brewed for filling the storage container than would be required for filling a serving receptacle. The storage container is portable and provided with its own outlet, so that it can readily be carried to the site of use.

The wall extends from an upper peripheral rim in a conical configuration with an angle of about 8.degree. to 35.degree. to the horizontal towards a substantially centrally located outlet and comprises a support sieve and a sheet of stainless steel disposed on the upper side of the support sieve facing towards the scalding chamber. The sheet has a thickness of about 20 to 80 .mu.m and is provided with a pattern of etched micro-perforations having a diameter of about 30 to 100 .mu.m at the surface facing towards the scalding chamber. The support sieve has a thickness of about 0.5 to 3 mm and is formed with a pattern of holes having a diameter of about 1 to 5 mm.

Abstract: Described is a coffee percolator having a reservoir provided with means for sensing the filling level of coffee meal therein. The filling level sensing means comprises an electro-optical sensor secured to the outer side of the reservoir across a corner formed by portions of a sidewall and a bottom wall. An emitter and a receiver of said electro-optical sensor are disposed along an optical axis extending through the interior of the reservoir substantially diagonally across the corner, the sidewall and the bottom wall being optically transparent at least at the locations whereat the optical axis passes therethrough.
