Patent number: 9400725Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to the automated testing of a system that includes software or hardware components. In some embodiments, a testing framework generates a set of test cases for a system under test using a grammar. Each test case may perform an action, such as provide an input to the system under test, and result in an output from the system under test. The inputs and outputs are then compared to the expected results to determine whether the system under test is performing correctly. Specifically, the system under test may be analyzed to determine whether it is capable of properly processing control instructions and input signals and/or generating expected output control signals and additional control/feedback information. The data can then be interpreted in the grammar system and/or used as input to a fault isolation engine to determine anomalies in the system under test.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2015Date of Patent: July 26, 2016Assignee: Wurldtech Security TechnologiesInventors: Nathan John Walter Kube, Frank Marcus

Publication number: 20150058672Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to the testing of a system that includes software or hardware components. In some embodiments, a testing framework generates a set of test cases for a system under test using a grammar. Each test case may perform an action, such as provide an input to the system under test, and result in an output from the system under test. The inputs and outputs are then compared to the expected results to determine whether the system under test is performing correctly. Prior to generating the set of test cases from the grammar, the testing framework processes the grammar to identify attributes of the test cases to be derived from the grammar and facilitates the modification of the grammar.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 10, 2014Publication date: February 26, 2015Applicant: Wurldtech Security TechnologiesInventors: Nathan John Walter Kube, Daniel Hoffman, Kevin Yoo

Patent number: 8006136Abstract: The present disclosure relates to automated testing of hardware and software systems. In some embodiments, a testing framework that generates a set of test cases for a system under test using a grammar is disclosed. The grammar may include terminal and nonterminal symbols with tags that describe a test sequence. The testing framework can use the grammar to generate a set of test cases. The testing framework can then receive feedback about the execution of the set of test cases from the system under test. In response to the feedback, the testing framework can generate a new set of grammars by automatically modifying or inserting tags in the original grammar. The new set of grammars can then be used to generate further test cases that intelligently explore the system under test for correctness, conformance, performance, security, or reliability.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2008Date of Patent: August 23, 2011Assignee: Wurldtech Security TechnologiesInventors: Nathan John Walter Kube, Daniel Malcolm Hoffman
