  • Patent number: 12360099
Abstract: A system and method for characterizing matter, for example, soil organic content is disclosed. A radiation and electric field sensor measure sample properties before, during and after irradiation. Calibrations are developed relating those measurements to useful properties of matter, for example, soil density and organic content. As an example of an embodiment of the disclosed invention an instrument attachment for portable X-ray fluorescence instrumentation was prototyped enabling concurrent volumetric soil organic matter quantification. This primary prototype outperformed more expensive emerging visible-near infrared multivariate instrumentation using parsimonious soil specific simple linear regression (R2 ranged 0.85-0.97) enabling rapid, parallel, nondestructive, cost-effective acquisition of soil elemental concentrations together with organic content data.

  • Patent number: 12345878
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for designing a multimodal photonic component. In one aspect, a method includes defining a loss function within a simulation space including multiple voxels and encompassing features of the multimodal photonic component. The loss function corresponds to a target output mode profile for an input mode profile, where the target output mode profile includes a relationship between a set of operating conditions and one or more supported modes of the multimodal photonic component at a particular operative wavelength. The initial structure is defined for one or more features, where at least some of the voxels corresponding to features have a dimension smaller than a smallest operative wavelength of the multimodal photonic component, and values for structural parameters for the features are determined so that a loss according to the loss function is within a threshold loss.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods for cryopreserving a population of cells with improved cell viability. In some aspects, the method comprises contacting a population of cells with a peptoid polymer comprising one or more polar peptoid monomers, e.g., formulated in a cryoprotectant solution, and cooling the population of cells at a temperature of from 0° C. to about ?20° C. for a time period of at least about 3 hours to produce a population of supercooled cells. The supercooling methods of the present invention provide excellent post-thaw cell survival and recovery. In certain embodiments, the population of cells is present in a tissue or an organ that is cryopreserved by performing the supercooling methods of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 12326386
Abstract: Disclosed herein are compositions and methods of fixing and staining rare cells. Further, disclosed herein are methods of identifying circulating tumor cells (CTC). In some embodiments, the method includes: imaging a cell sample to identify a cell of interest; determining a first pixel intensity of a stained nuclear area; determining a second pixel intensity of a background area; calculating a ploidy status of the cell of interest by subtracting the second pixel intensity from the first pixel intensity; and determining whether the cell of interest is a CTC based on the ploidy status. The method may be computer implemented, such that the method uses a machine learning algorithm to identify a feature; process the feature to extract a parameter of interest; analyze the parameter of interest; and when the parameter of interest is greater than or less than a pre-determined threshold, classify the cell of interest as a CTC.

Abstract: A Secure Environment Public Register (SEPR) provides a method and system that allows precious metals in the shape of bar(s) or units to be certified, specially numbered to provide exact linkage to an owner, allow secure movement of precious metals between secure facilities, and though Blockchain allow secure transfer of ownership between individuals and organizations. The SEPR allows gold and other precious metals to be easily held and traded in commerce with all the advantages of holding precious metals. The SEPR system allows exact audits of the metal bars on hand and avoids over-selling units since each bar is serialized and ownership is documented in a public register.

  • Publication number: 20250175704
Abstract: A toe-in system allows for electromechanical control to adjust the parallax, or “toe-in”, of two cameras to create an accurately fused 3D stereoscopic image. The system includes of two cameras, an electromechanical adjustment mechanism, an electronic method of distance measurement, image processing software, and a correlation algorithm. The two cameras are to be mounted equidistant from the center axis of the device, with the electromechanical control method attached to each camera independently, or dependently. The cameras may be mounted in a manner that allows for restricted movement by the electromechanical drive mechanism. The electronic distance measurement sensor measures the distance from the objective to the cameras image capturing sensor or center of rotation. With the distance and the kinematic parameters of the electromechanical drive method being known, a correlation algorithm calculates the required quantity of “toe-in” needed to create a fused, stereoscopic, 3D, image.
