Patent number: 9554607Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring head-accelerations data for a plurality of athletes. An exemplary system includes a plurality of athlete-mounted sensor units that record acceleration information and wirelessly transmit the recorded acceleration information and information identifying the sensor unit, if the recorded acceleration information exceeds a predefined threshold. A base unit receives the wirelessly transmitted acceleration information and the information identifying the sensor unit and makes the received information available to at least one output device.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2011Date of Patent: January 31, 2017Assignee: X2Impact, Inc.Inventors: Christoph Mack, Christopher B. Doughty, Robert Snook, Nick Vallidis

Publication number: 20120210498Abstract: A protective headgear position and impact sensor is described for use with hard hats, helmets, or other headgear. Proximity sensors are used to detect whether the headgear is being worn by the user. In some versions of the invention, additional features determine the nature of a head impact and store data related to wear of the headgear by the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2012Publication date: August 23, 2012Applicant: X2Impact, Inc.Inventor: Christoph Mack

Publication number: 20110184663Abstract: Systems and methods for head impact injury prediction. A computer implemented method is provided for event based injury predictions. The computer implemented method receives an indication of sensor data related to an impact of a user. The received sensor data is compared to previously stored sensor data in a data store. Each instance of the previously stored sensor data is associated with a medical diagnosis. If the received sensor data matches any of the previously stored sensor data based on the comparison, then an injury risk indicator is generated based on at least one of the medical diagnosis associated with the matching previously stored sensor data or an impact history of the user. The generated indicator is presented.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2011Publication date: July 28, 2011Applicant: X2IMPACT, INC.Inventors: Christoph Mack, Marina Kuznetsova, Scott Votaw, Robert Snook

Publication number: 20110181419Abstract: Head impact event evaluation systems and methods. A system and computer implemented method for event detection includes collecting sensor data transmitted from one or more sensor devices being attached to one or more users. The sensors transmit data when an event results in sensor data above a threshold value. At least one force is determined based on the collected sensor data. At least one force vector is determined based on a location of one or more sensors associated with the sensor devices and the determined at least one of the linear or rotational force. At least a portion of a human form is displayed with the determined force vector based on the determined at least on force vector on a display.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2011Publication date: July 28, 2011Applicant: X2IMPACT, INC.Inventors: Christoph Mack, Marina Kuznetsova, Scott Votaw

Publication number: 20110184319Abstract: A mouth guard having a proximity sensor, an impact sensor, a processor in signal communication with the sensor, a memory in data communication with the processor, a transmitter in signal communication with the processor, and a battery. The processor is configured to allow data transmission the mouth guard has been inserted into a mouth. The processor is also configured to instruct the transmitter to transmit a signal if an impact above a predefined first threshold is sensed.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2011Publication date: July 28, 2011Applicant: X2IMPACT, INC.Inventors: Christoph Mack, Richard T. Able, Jed McCann, Christopher B. Doughty, Robert Snook, Nick Vallidis

Publication number: 20110179851Abstract: A method for producing a mouth guard having an encapsulated sensor module. The method includes vacuum forming a first sheet of thermoplastic material using a mold to produce a first mouth guard layer, attaching a sensor module to the first mouth guard layer with a hot melt adhesive, vacuum forming a second sheet of thermoplastic material over the sensor module to produce a second mouth guard layer, storing a default threshold level in the sensor module, and calibrating the sensor module to account for sensor alignment. In an example embodiment, the first and second layers are formed such that they define an open area that allows a user's tongue to touch their upper palate after the mouth guard has been inserted and such that the layers define a channel for accepting a plurality of teeth, including the incisors of a user.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2011Publication date: July 28, 2011Applicant: X2IMPACT, INC.Inventors: Christoph Mack, Jed McCann, Christopher B. Publication number: 20110181420Abstract: Systems and methods for evaluating and displaying an impact. A computer implemented method for interacting with a sports impact sensing and reporting system. The computer implemented method receives sensor data from one or more player modules configured to detect a force experienced by a player. A user interface is configured to graphically display a model of the received sensor data generated based on acceleration and rotational information within the received sensor data, a magnitude of the received sensor data, and a plotted representation of the received sensor data. Assessment tools are presented for a caregiver to assess the player for a medical condition. The received sensor data and a result of the presented medical assessment are stored.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2011Publication date: July 28, 2011Applicant: X2IMPACT, INC.Inventors: Christoph Mack, Scott Votaw
