  • Patent number: 8078068
Abstract: Systems and methods are described hereinto to provide a notification when a predetermined event occurs that is related to a consumable. A print engine outputs hard copies based on electronically received data. One or more toner cartridges that are utilized by the print engine to place toner onto a hard copy substrate. A meter monitors and provides a level of remaining toner for each of the one or more cartridges. A yield component receives level data from each meter to compare to an expected yield and an expected grams per impression, wherein if the expected yield and/or the expected grams per impression are outside of a predetermined threshold, a signal is output.

  • Patent number: 8074982
Abstract: An assembly including nip assemblies spaced apart from one another along a first axis extending in the lateral direction. Each nip assembly including a driven wheel and an idler roller. The driven wheel rotatably supported about the first axis and the idler roller cooperating with the driven wheel to engage the sheet there between. The idler roller rotatably supported about a second axis. The first or second axis being selectively moveable relative to the other of the first or second axis between a first and second orientation. In the first orientation, the second axis extending parallel to the first axis, and in the second orientation the second axis extending at an oblique angle to the first axis. • Patent number: 8075209
Abstract: A method of printing a plurality of images on a length of media comprises feeding the media from an input roll of media to a printing device where images are printed on the media. After images are printed on the media, the media is delivered to an output roll. The method further comprises determining a pile height differential on the printed media for at least one initial image. Based on the determined pile height differential, subsequent images printed on the media are modified. The subsequent images are modified in a manner designed to compensate for the determined pile height differential. Accordingly, a method of roll-to-roll printing is disclosed that may be used to balance the ink layer across the width of the roll of media and maintain the cylindrical shape of the output roll in various printing applications.

  • Patent number: 8075086
Abstract: A system and method that enables web paper skew detection by monitoring print head motor position. An inline full width array sensor actively tracks the alignment of the print heads across the print zone and actively moves the heads to maintain alignment. If the paper starts to skew across the print zone, a color misregistration error will be detected and the print units will be moves with respect to each other to maintain alignment. The absolute position of the print heads can be monitored by tracking the steps sent to each motor to maintain alignment.

  • Patent number: 8077330
Abstract: A method and system is provided for splitting a print job into its preamble and at least one chunk. The splitter maintains a collection of RIP node addresses to which chunks of the job currently being split have already been sent. When a new chunk is about to be sent, the splitter checks whether each RIP node address has already received a chunk. If the RIP node has not already received a chunk, the splitter sends the preamble as well as the chunk to an available RIP associated with the RIP node. If, however, the RIP node address has already received a chunk, only the portion of the chunk after the preamble is sent to an available RIP associated with the RIP node and communicate the location of the preamble to the available RIP node. The preamble may contain common content for each job.

  • Patent number: 8077352
Abstract: An image processing apparatus, program product, and method determine an achievable gamut achievable by the imaging engine or engines for all spatial locations of an output image, or all utilized print engines. A reference gamut is calculated which is any gamut containing the achievable gamut. A gamut mapping is used to map gamuts from the mean gamut to the achievable gamut, and a set of transformations is calculated for each of a set of input colors to a set of target colors selected from colors in the achievable gamut. Values for a received digital image are transformed for each image pixel or clusters of pixels based on the calculated set of transformations. Output images are generated based on the transformed values.
