Abstract: An image defect inspection apparatus includes a supply unit, an acquiring unit, an inspection unit and an adjustment unit. The supply unit supplies a test image corresponding to an inferred image defect regarding an image forming unit that forms an image on a recording material, to the image forming unit to form the test image on the recording material. The acquiring unit acquires a scanned image obtained by scanning the recording material on which the test image is formed. The inspection unit compares the scanned image acquired with the test image and inspects as to whether or not the inferred image defect is in the scanned image. The adjustment unit adjusts a value of a setting item which is defined as an adjust target regarding the inferred image defect, so as to enhance detectability of the inferred image defect in the inspection.

Abstract: A process for preparing an imaging surface of an imaging transfer member in a printing machine, the process comprises providing a surface roughness to the imaging surface to produce a plurality of pits having sharp features on the surface, and then exposing the pitted imaging surface to an acid dip for a time period sufficient to substantially reduce the sharp features on the imaging surface. This process may be followed by anodization. The process produces an imaging surface having a pit structure providing reduced oil consumption and wear of components of the printing machine that contact the imaging surface.

Abstract: A print document conversion apparatus includes plural software-based conversion units and a controller. The plural software-based conversion units perform a software-based conversion process for converting print document data described in a page description language into page image data having a bitmap image format. Each of the software-based conversion units requests a hardware-based image processing apparatus to execute specific image processing in the software-based conversion process, and generates the page image data including a result of the image processing in response to the request. The controller activates an additional software-based conversion unit that performs the software-based conversion process when there is a possibility that a state where at least one of the software-based conversion units waits for the hardware-based image processing apparatus to complete the image processing occurs.
