Abstract: Provided is a device that records or outputs information, which acquires a first image to be a display target, judges whether at least a part of the acquired first image is a preset non-target image, and determines whether the acquired first image is an image to be recorded or output. When it is determined that the acquired first image is the image to be recorded or output as a result of the determination, the device records or outputs the acquired first image.
Abstract: Provided is a method for the automated selection of sample documents or pages from a large collection, and more particularly an application of the method in a proof presentment environment—where the method is employed for selection and review of representative or extreme pages from a large document, such as one scheduled for printing. The method characterizes pages or documents in a multi-dimensional vector space based upon a set of characteristics, and then uses clustering techniques to group the pages, enabling the selection of typical pages from the groups, outlier pages from extremes lying outside of the groups, or both typical and outlier pages.

Abstract: A primary transfer device includes a primary transfer roll that is capable of being engaged with and disengaged from an intermediate transfer member to which a developer image is primarily transferred; and a setting-changing unit that changes a setting of pressure of the primary transfer roll to the intermediate transfer member in accordance with kind of a recording medium to which the developer image is secondarily transferred, wherein the setting-changing unit has an irregular medium transfer mode for a case where the recording medium to which the developer image is a recording medium having irregularities formed on a surface thereof, and an ordinary transfer mode for a case where the recording medium is a recording medium other than the recording medium having the irregularities, wherein a pressure set in the irregular medium transfer mode is smaller than that set in the ordinary transfer mode.
Abstract: The present invention provides a transporting device that includes: a transport unit that transports a document placed on a document tray; a detector that detects the width of the document placed on the document tray; a controller that controls the transport unit to transport the document when the width of the document detected by the detector is a predetermined definite size, and prohibits the transport unit from transporting the document when the width of the document detected by the detector is a predetermined size that is different from the definite size; and a cancellation unit that cancels the prohibition on the document transportation imposed by the controller.
Abstract: A developing device has: a developer housing chamber in which developer is housed; a developer holding member holding developer by magnetic force; a partitioning wall having an overlapping region that, in a transparent plan view, is positioned upward of the developer holding member and overlaps the developer holding member in an up/down direction; and an opening portion formed in the overlapping region of the partitioning wall. The partitioning wall is a portion of a separating wall of the developer housing chamber, and is provided between the developer housing chamber and the developer holding member.
Abstract: A recording apparatus is provided. The recording component includes a plurality of recording portions arranged in a first direction and moves relatively to a recording medium at a speed V in a second direction intersecting with the first direction. The reading component reads an image recorded on the recording medium in a reading cycle T by a plurality of reading sections arranged at a predetermined pitch in the first direction. The control component controls, on the recording medium by the recording component, recordation of a detection mark having a size W in the first direction of twice or more than twice the predetermined pitch and a size L in the second direction in which L?(n+1)·V·T (where n is an integer of 1 or more) and calculate a barycenter position of the detection mark in the first direction based on a reading result of the detection mark.

Abstract: Methods and systems supply used marking material to a printing device marking material supply container. The used marking material was previously used in a printing process and was previously removed from one or more photoreceptors. The methods/systems feed the used marking material from the material supply container to a photoreceptor within the printing device and transfer the used marking material to a sheet of media in a printing process performed by the printing device that produces “proof prints.” These proof prints are printed sheets that are used to verify content and/or layout of printed material. The proof prints are not required to comply with any print quality or print durability standard. The methods/systems also fuse (using a heating element within the printing device) the used marking material to the sheet of media at a reduced temperature that is insufficient to comply with any print quality or print durability standard.
