Abstract: Systems and methods apply active feedback via a repetitive controller to compensate for periodic disturbances applied by recording media to a movable image carrier having a controlled velocity. The compensation parameters of the repetitive controller, once the error signal of the feedback converges to zero, can be stored with one or more characteristics of the print job or the recording media used for the print job. When other print jobs are received having the same one or more characteristics, the stored, converged compensation parameters can be retrieved, reducing the time to convergence of the systems and methods.

Abstract: A method and system for processing image data provides associated background metadata in a searchable format and reduces file size. MRC techniques are used to process input image data. It is known that the image data may be segmented to generate a background layer representing background attributes of the input image data. A background color value of the background layer is detected, and background metadata representing the color value is generated. The background metadata is associated with the image data (e.g., as a separate file, in the image header, etc.), thereby making the background metadata searchable and reducing the file size of the image data to be stored.

Abstract: To compute a signature for an object comprising or represented by a set of vectors in a vector space of dimensionality D, statistics are computed that are indicative of distribution of the vectors of the set of vectors amongst a set of regions Ri, i=1, . . . , N of the vector space, at least some statistics associated with each region are binarized to generate sets of binary values ai, i=1, . . . , N indicative of statistics of the vectors of the set of vectors belonging to the respective regions Ri, i=1, . . . , N; and a vector set signature is defined for the set of vectors including the sets of binary values ai, i=1, . . . , N. The computing, binarizing, and defining operations may be repeated for two sets of vectors, and a quantitative comparison of the two sets of vectors determined based on the corresponding vector set signatures.
Abstract: A system and method that enables web paper skew detection by monitoring print head motor position. An inline full width array sensor actively tracks the alignment of the print heads across the print zone and actively moves the heads to maintain alignment. If the paper starts to skew across the print zone, a color misregistration error will be detected and the print units will be moves with respect to each other to maintain alignment. The absolute position of the print heads can be monitored by tracking the steps sent to each motor to maintain alignment.
Abstract: This is a thumper assembly that is positioned in a developer station of a xerographic marking system. A waste container connected to a drop tube collects waste developer from this station. A magnet prevents magnetic developer from moving through the tube when the container is removed. Once a new container is installed, the magnet is moved away from the tube thereby allowing magnetic developer lodged therein to again move through the tube. A thumper is moved striking the tube to further dislodge developer and allow this developer to move through the tube into the waste container.
Abstract: An image processing method generates a halftone-dot image by forming a halftone dot, which is represented by a set of one or plural output dots and corresponds to an intensity of an input image signal, while making a part of the dots constituting the halftone dot to be an actual non-output dot so as to reduce an amount of a coloring material of the halftone-dot portion. When the intensity of the image signal exceeds a predetermined value and is in a predetermined range, while maintaining contour dots, which are output dots contribute to formation of a contour of the halftone dot, to be the output dot, the image processing method makes a part of dots inside the contour dots to be the actual non-output dot.

Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of the present exemplary embodiment, a printing system comprises a media feeder that receives and stores asymmetrically thick media from an outside source and outputs such media to the printing system via a feed mechanism. A conveyer system transports the asymmetrically thick media from the media feeder utilizing at least one linear belt wherein a sensor is employed to determine the presence of the asymmetrically thick piece of stock. A controller coupled to the conveyer determines the location and orientation of an image on a piece of the asymmetrically thick stock. An imaging system receives the asymmetrically thick media from the conveyer system and places an image on the media in the proper location and orientation based at least in part on information from the controller.

Abstract: A roller mechanism includes a pair of rollers and an urging unit. The pair of rollers oppose one another sandwiching a conveyance path of a sheet material, and are provided to be capable of increasing and reducing an axis-to-axis separation thereof. The urging unit urges at least one of the pair of rollers in a direction of reducing the axis-to-axis separation of the pair of rollers with an urging force that increases with an increase in the axis-to-axis separation of the pair of rollers, and presses the sheet material with the pair of rollers. The urging unit increases the urging force non-linearly, with a rate of increase of the urging force falling as the axis-to-axis separation of the pair of rollers increases within a range of changes at times of sheet material-pressing.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus performs color conversion processing on an input image. The image processing apparatus includes a block pallet conversion unit, a first color converting unit and a restoration unit. The block pallet conversion unit converts the input image in units of blocks into (i) pallet color information including pallet colors number of which is less than pixels included in one of the blocks and (ii) selection information used to select one of the pallet colors for each pixel. The first color converting unit performs color conversion on the pallet color information obtained by the block pallet conversion unit. The restoration unit selects for each pixel, based on the selection information, one of the pallet colors of the pallet color information, which is color-converted by the first color converting unit, to restores an image.
