Abstract: A system and method that enables scan to print services is disclosed. In one embodiment, Document Reproduction System (DRS) has at least one scan to print job template specifying at least one recipient and at least one printing device. A storage pool service is also provided for storing the job template which is accessible by at least one printing device. A scanner is utilized for receiving a digitized version of a document to be manipulated by the specified job template parameters. The DRS performs the specified operations on the digitized document in accordance with the job template parameters and then the document is forwarded to the recipient's designated printing device.

Abstract: Current density to copy substrates of varying widths if monitored and controlled in the electrostatic transfer unit of an electrostatic reproduction device. Current density through a copy substrate is appropriately adjusted to compensate for the presence of end leakage current effect to a receptor. Voltage supplied to a current generation unit in an electrostatic transfer unit is controlled independent of the characteristic properties of the copy substrate. Image reproduction quality is maintained in an electrostatic reproduction device even as the width of the copy substrate changes and in the presence of end leakage current effect.
Abstract: A user interface for an image reproducing system that allows the system operator to visit system controls and features in an operator defined order. In this manner, the system operator avoids tabbing or scrolling through unwanted system controls and features. The user interface may utilize an image reproduction operation library that provides visual representations of objects that encapsulate attributes of the imaging system controls and features. The operator may select the visual representations using a pointing device in any desired order to define a preferred image reproduction sequence.

Abstract: A thin-walled fuser roll core cylinder assembly permitting fast warm-up times and improved energy efficiency wherein cracking of the thin walls due to cyclic compression is prevented by strengthening the thin walls proximate to the end region where the core cylinder is engaged by the drive gear. Use of such a thin-walled fuser roll in an imaging system and a process of fusing toner onto a copy substrate using the thin-walled fuser core.
Abstract: A developing device for electrophotographic image has a developing mechanism having a developer carrier for carrying a developer along a preset circulating route including a developing area and a developer restricting element for restricting the developer on the developer carrier, and a developer supply mechanism having a storing unit. The storing unit is filled with a start-up developer in the vicinity of the developer carrier and a replenishing developer remoter than the start-up developer from the developer carrier. The start-up developer and the replenishing developer have different grain sizes or grain size distributions. Further, a developing method for electrophotograhic image has the steps of using the start-up developer at an initial state of use of the developing mechanism, and using the replenishing developer differed in grain size or grain size distribution from the start-up developer after an end of the initial state of use of the developing mechanism.
Abstract: A fuser stripper baffle exit minimizes differential gloss marks due to paper contacting the fuser exit baffle. Portions of paper that touch the baffle cool differently than portions that don't, resulting in differential gloss in the paper path or spanwise direction. The exit baffle contains a series of axial-direction steps or plateaus in its upper surface, such that the highest step is nearest the fuser roll, while the lowest plateau is furthest from the roll. This reduces the surface area of the fuser stripper baffle exit that contacts the surface of the paper sheet as the paper sheet is stripped from the fuser roll. The paper thus touches the exit baffle for the minimum amount of time, thus minimizing the heat transfer to the baffle. This minimizes differential cooling effects which, in turn, minimizes differential gloss.

Abstract: A hypermedia authoring system enables an author to generate a document using a goals outline and a presentation outline. The goals outline is generated by instantiating document prototypes. A display of the goals outline permits the author to select a prototype document from a directory of prototype documents and instantiate the selected prototype document that corresponds to a node of the goals outline. The instantiated document prototype is linked to cards in a card database. The presentation outline is displayed as Bento-boxes. Each Bento-box includes spacer objects which are defined spatially and temporally. The spacer objects may be linked to cards. The goals outline is related to the presentation outline based on commonly linked cards. The Bento-boxes may be linked to each other in a stack or hyperlinked to other Bento-boxes via anchors. A display of all the Bento-boxes of a hypermedia document shows a linkage path established by the hyperlinks between Bento-boxes/Bento-box stacks.
Abstract: In a xerographic printing apparatus, a corotron having a wire is used to apply a charge to a photoreceptor. The wire is cleaned by a motorized shuttle which travels in two directions along the wires. The shuttle is controlled by detection of an increased current consumption associated with the motor.
Abstract: A chemical toner and an emulsion aggregation process for preparing the chemical toner, wherein the chemical toner is composed of: (a) a resin including a compound which exhibits a molecular weight polydispersity of from about 1.1 to about 3.0 (where the resin is produced by a stable free radical polymerization process); (b) an optional wax; and (c) a colorant, wherein the particle size of the chemical toner exhibits a geometric standard deviation of about 1.25 or less.

Abstract: There is provided an image inputting apparatus which allows various processing while minimizing originals to be reset in an original feeder. The image inputting apparatus is provided with a scan processing command for operating only an image reading section and a feed processing command for operating only an original feeder section with respect to an external control unit such as a computer. When the external control unit issues the feed processing command, an image input control section of the image inputting apparatus receiving the command recognizes that the command is a command for controlling the original feeder section and instructs an original feeder monitoring control section to feed the original. Receiving the instruction, the original feeder monitoring control section controls the original feeder section to feed one original onto a platen.
Abstract: A system and method is presented for tuning a scanned image to a specified printing device for enhanced image quality output. The method generally has the steps of first receiving a scanned image in digitized format and reading a specification of how the image was scanned including the input document format; the output document format, syntax, and parameter semantics. Loading a device profile of the target printing system as input wherein the parameters that define the enhanced print quality for a printing system are specified by the device profile of that system. Producing an output image such that when printed on the target printer, it produces enhanced quality output.
