  • Publication number: 20070133587
Abstract: There is provided a network control device capable of surely distributing a content even when a relay function of one of the nodes contained in a network stops, without affecting the process in nodes below the node and while improving the re-liability of the network system itself. When controlling a node contained in a network system including a server and a plurality of nodes constituting a plurality of hierarchies and connected to one another, wherein a content is distributed from the server to the respective nodes, it is checked whether a content relay function in a node located at the uplink with respect to the node in the content distribution has stopped. When the stop of the relay function is detected, control is performed so that the consumption speed of the content accumulated in the lower node in the process executed in the node is smaller than the consumption speed before the relay function has stopped.

  • Publication number: 20070091909
Abstract: A connection state control device is provided that can promptly perform a reproducing operation by smoothly switching channels at each node and reduce the load on the management server in a case where operations are performed so as to sequentially change distribution information to be received at each node in a network system having a tree structure. A node receives content being distributed over a network, and performs an operation of reproducing the received content. When the node is to receive different content being distributed over a different network, the node is connected to the different network. After that, the node receives and reproduces the different content. The node continues to receive the original content but suspends the operation of reproducing the original content after connected to the different network.

  • Patent number: 6260195
Abstract: Disclosed is a cable television system including a broadcasting center and terminal devices. When a notification data is to be transmitted to each terminal device, the broadcasting center transmits a channel data indicating a channel through which the notification data is transmitted. The terminal device, upon receipt of the channel data, stores the channel data in a memory. When the terminal device is turned OFF, the last viewed channel number is stored in the memory. When, the terminal device is turned ON, if the channel data transmitted from the broadcasting center is stored in the memory, the terminal device is tuned in the channel indicated by the channel data, while if the channel data is not stored in the memory, the terminal device is tuned in the last viewed channel.

  • Patent number: 6022223
Abstract: When the input output controller 22 receives request data through the modem 42, the input output controller 22 controls the memory controller 25 to retrieve an AV stream and a BGV stream from the memories and to transfer the streams to the multiplexer 30. The memory controller 25 retrieves a BGV stream from the BGV memories 26a, 26b, and 26c and an AV stream from the AV memories 27a, 27b, and 27c. When receiving the BGV stream and the AV stream, the multiplexer 30 divides the AV stream into a lyric stream and a music stream. The multiplexer 30 composes the lyric stream and the BGV stream into a video stream. The multiplexer 30 time-divisionally multiplexes the video stream and the music stream and outputs the multiplexed stream as a video/music stream.

  • Patent number: 5774672
Abstract: In the karaoke system 1, a center 3 is connected to a plurality of karaoke terminals 5 by a coaxial cable 7. The center 3 divides the karaoke song data stored in the memory device 13 over several channels and transmits all the karaoke song data within a fixed time period in succession to the karaoke terminals 5 via the coaxial cable 7. This operation is performed regardless of whether or not a song is requested from one of the karaoke terminals 5. Whether the karaoke data transmitted in succession is data of a requested song is determined by the control portion 41 of a karaoke terminal 5. If so, karaoke performance processes are performed wherein the karaoke data is reproduced and the orchestral accompaniment and lyric image is outputted.

  • Patent number: 5725383
Abstract: In a karaoke system, a central terminal and a plurality of karaoke terminals are connected by a coaxial cable. A polling modem modulates a polling signal to a predetermined channel signal and transmits it to a karaoke terminal and also receives a response signal (signal for responding as to whether a song has been requested) transmitted from the karaoke terminal in response to the polling signal. When a song is requested, the data transmission control portion retrieves the karaoke song data of the requested song from the memory, modulates it via the data transmission modem into an alternating current signal that differs from the channel of the polling signal, and transmits it to the karaoke terminal.

  • Patent number: 5703996
Abstract: When the data supply rate from the data storing unit 11 drops and the amount of data remaining in the buffer memory 21 decreases, the calculation circuit 25 determines a data reproduction speed at which reproduction should be performed, dependently on the amount of data in the buffer memory 21. Accordingly, the video reading circuit 23 is controlled to retrieve video data from the buffer memory 21 at a reduced reproduction speed. The monitor 13 reproduces a slow motion pictures, which leads to an enhancement of the buffer memory.

  • Patent number: 5691915
Abstract: When the terminal 5 requests a partial access of a desired karaoke song to the center 3 in S380, only the climactic passage data of the karaoke song is transmitted from the center 3 to the terminal 5. The terminal 5 reproduces the climactic passage in S400. Then, the terminal 5 determines whether or not the user will pay for the karaoke song in S410. When the payment is confirmed, the terminal 5 requests total access to the center 3 in S340, receives the entire data of the karaoke song in S350, and reproduces the data in S360. It is possible to prevent the user from erroneously requesting a total access of a karaoke song which the user does not want to sing. It is ensured that the user can obtain karaoke songs which he/she really wants to sing, within a short period of time.

  • Patent number: 5684843
Abstract: A data transmission system includes a polling modem and a central control unit that receives a response signal from a terminal. A data transmission central control unit performs polling type transmission to transmit an information data unit to the terminal that has requested the information data unit. The central control unit also performs loop type transmission to cyclically transmit information data units with their loop flags being set to the terminals in succession. The control portion in the terminals selects the transmission that requires the shortest waiting time.

  • Patent number: 5675509
Abstract: Each of the data transmission devices 15a-15d serially and cyclically transmits all the song data over a corresponding channel, by a time cycle corresponding to the number of the song data. The four data transmission devices 15a-15d transmit the song data, at timings shifted from one another by (1/the number of channels) of the time cycle. Each terminal determines one channel out of the four channels that can most rapidly supply desired song data. Each terminal then picks up the desired song data from the determined channel.
