  • Patent number: 6108346
Abstract: A communication system including a collection of modules coupled in a ring architecture which integrates synchronous and asynchronous message transmission. Asynchronous data packets and synchronous voice packets are exchange on a single communication link. Packetized information exchange references a fixed length window with all synchronous data being exchanged at the beginning of each window and with asynchronous data exchanged during the remaining portion of each window. Virtual circuits utilizing the synchronous packets can deliver telephone conversations without degradation in voice quality and yet the system can also transmit asynchronous data packets.

  • Patent number: 6072827
Abstract: A method of automatic baud rate detection disclosed includes use of low cost hardware to detect framing errors, detect actual transitions in a serial transmission, and calculate transitions in the character received. A current baud rate is taken as being correct, too low, or too high as a function of a comparison between actual transitions and calculated transitions in combination with detection of framing errors. A binary search among conventional baud rates establishes a correct baud rate for a low cost automatic baud rate detection receiving device within three "sign on" character presentations.

  • Patent number: 5926530
Abstract: An intelligent configuration system automatically logs a sample of a PBX Call Detail Recording (CDR) message. The sample CDR messages are sent via modem from a local call accounting system connected to the PBX to a central configuration server. The configuration server analyzes the sample CDR messages to determine the PBX type. The appropriate PBX interface file for the identified PBX type is transmitted back to the call accounting system and used by the accounting system to interpret and price CDR messages output from the PBX into call accounting and traffic analysis reports. Identification and location data is transmitted from the accounting system to the configuration server. The configuration server uses the data to automatically transmit and update rate tables used in the accounting system.
