  • Patent number: 9055450
Abstract: A system for quantifying the shadow fading observed in a wireless environment having multiple wireless access points is also provided. A distance determination module is in signal communication with the wireless access points. The distance determination module determines a distance between a pair of the wireless access points based on location information that relates to the locations of the wireless access points at the wireless environment. A shadow fading determination module is also in signal communication with the wireless access points. The shadow fading determination module determines a shadow fading factor based on the distance between a pair of the wireless access points and based on RSS information received from one of the wireless access points in the pair of wireless access points.

  • Patent number: 9001764
Abstract: A channel allocation system for allocating channels in a frequency band to a plurality of radios in close proximity so as to minimize co-channel interference. One method for allocating channels involves initially tuning each of the plurality of radios to the same one of the plurality of channels. All of the radios then receive signals from whatever sources and a signal score is determined for each radio. The radios are then tuned to another one of the plurality of channels. The steps of receiving a signal and determining a signal score for each radio are repeated for each of the remaining channels until all channels have been used. The signal scores are then tested against a table of mapping schemes to determine maximum isolation.

  • Patent number: 8995344
Abstract: A wireless network access device comprising a radio interface with a serial communication line, a switch, and M serial connections to M connectors for connecting up to M corresponding detachable radio modules. The radio interface forms up to M individually addressable radio communications paths. Each radio module includes a radio configured to communicate with client devices in a coverage area and a radio processor configured to manage at least one radio receiving buffer. The radio receiving buffers store receiver buffer identifiers to corresponding received data space. A processor manages communication between the client devices that communicate with the radio modules and a data network via the radio interface and a network interface when N?M radio modules are connected to the radio interface. An assist engine is connected in the serial connection between the processor and the switch to manage allocation of receive buffer identifiers to the radio modules.

  • Patent number: 8868002
Abstract: A method for surveying a site for installation of wireless access points is provided. A map of the site under survey is displayed. User input relating to the position of a first wireless device at the site is received. User input relating to the position of a second wireless device at the site is also received. Wireless signals broadcast by the second wireless device are measured using the first wireless device to obtain signal strength values corresponding to the strength of the wireless signals. Attenuation values based on the signal strength values are calculated and assigned to features on the map of the site under survey.

  • Patent number: 8830854
Abstract: A system for managing parallel processing of network packets is also provided. A wireless access device that includes multiple transceivers and multiple processing units receives network packets. A media access controller determines which transceiver a received network packet is associated with. A tagging module determines whether the transceiver associated with the received network packet is bound to one of the processing units. In response to a determination that the transceiver is bound, a scheduler assigns the received packet to the processing unit the transceiver is bound to. In response to a determination that the transceiver is not bound, the tagging module binds the transceiver to a processing unit such that the processing unit processes network packets associated with the transceiver while the transceiver is bound to the processing unit, and the scheduler assigns the received network packet to the processing unit the transceiver is bound to.

  • Publication number: 20140044005
Abstract: A system for conducting wireless site surveys of a wireless environment is provided. A wireless interface controller controls a wireless interface during a scan of a wireless frequency band. A user interface module receives a set of wireless network design criteria, and a measurement module obtains a set of wireless signal information based on a set of wireless signals received during the scan of the wireless frequency band. An analysis module compares the set of wireless signal information to the set of wireless network design criteria and automatically determines whether the set of wireless network design criteria is, at least in part, satisfied. The user interface module provides an indicator that indicates whether the set of wireless network design criteria is, at least in part, satisfied.
