Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for incinerating self-burning wastes by igniting the waste materials in a first chamber and limiting the supply of air in the first chamber to control the rate and temperature of combustion. The partially oxidized gasses produced in the first chamber are conducted to a second chamber through an elongated tube. Air is mixed with the partially oxidized gas in the elongated tube and the mixture ignited to complete combustion of the gasses in the tube and the second chamber. Metal wastes may be melted and recovered in the second chamber.
